In order to repair a double chin, the tumuscence liposuction technique is often used. In this case, those affected also benefit from the current mouth guard requirement, because following the treatment, minor bruising and the plasters on the puncture sites can be concealed by the mask. To perform the procedure, cosmetic surgeons mark the areas on the patient's chin that are to be suctioned. Then, a tumescent solution - a mixture of cortisone, adrenaline and saline - is injected, which prepares the fat cells and dissolves them from the connective tissue within 30 minutes. During this process, the chin area swells considerably. Using a millimeter-thin cannula, the fat is then suctioned out in a way that is as gentle on the tissue as possible. The puncture sites are bonded with a plaster and heal without scarring within the next three to four weeks.
