Personal History
I began riding when I was about 16 years old on some form of an XR that a friend dad gave me. My mom and I didn’t have much money so at that time anything to do with off road ridding/motocross was by luck or hand me down. I wasn’t very serious about it though until 4-5 years later. I was living in Southern California and had a friend that was riding and or racing every weekend. As time went on I began to go out with him more and more. That eventually led me to purchasing my very first brand new bike, a 1997 CR250R. I thought it was the fastest thing on the planet, raced it a few times at the old Carlsbad Raceway in SoCal when they were still putting on their weekend racing format. I actually won a novice race there! I was stoked. Later that year, I let a friend borrow my CR for a day and it ended up getting stolen out of the back of his truck. As time went on and some more pay checks came in I was able to pay off the missing bike and purchase a 1998 CR250R, I bought that bike in mid 1999 so I got a pretty good deal. At least I thought so, but it was still bought from a dealer so I am sure they made more money off of me and I was too young to care or know any better. I was happy, I had another rocket ship! Or so I though. I raced, practiced, cooked pistons, bent and repaired that ‘98CR and I still have it today! She is a keeper in my mind.
In the early 2000’s I started collage, and lost a lot of time for riding. But now I am able to devote more time and energy into the sport. Although I work overseas as a contract pilot, I am provided with a good amount of time off in the amounts of 30 days at a time. Even when working I train 6 days a week; I wear the brand names of my sponsors and help promote our sport that we all love.
Since 2009 I have been participating in as many races that I possibly can. They range from attending the AMA Big 6 Grand Prix Series (my main racing series), Searchlight Grand Prix, Lake Elsinore Grand Prix to include the Mushman 100, and any other I can find that will fit into my schedule. I also spend a great deal of time on the trails and natural moto tracks in southern Nevada. I am faster than I was on that old CR250R, probably helps that I am now mounted on a 2011 CRF450R. The big factor is that I am more dedicated and found a deeper passion for the racing I do now. My long time Girlfriend rides and trains with me when I am home. She is my support in the pits along with my oldest daughter, so you can say that it is a family event every time we race. We race, train and live by: Commitment, Consistency and Endurance.
Riding Goals
My Goal is to advance through the ranks in the AMA Big 6 GP Series and other racing venues. With more exposure to the racing environment and gaining experience with faster riders I expect my results to improve and to advance in classes.
In 2014 I plan to ride the BITD Vegas to Sportsman class Iron Man!
My long term goal is to be riding the Expert class by 2015.
