Personal History
I was born and raised in Texas on a small farm. It was there I learned my work ethic. My High School years we moved to Oregon where I fell in love with the outdoors. During high school I competed in school sports, mtn. biked, backpacked, and was a member of a local Search and Rescue Team.
Straight out of high school I went in to the United States Army and in to Artillery. I achieved the rank of Sergeant (E5) and had overseas deployments to both Kosovo and Iraq. After 4.5 years in the military I got out and after a couple of miscellaneous jobs I became a Police Officer and a member of our agencies Metro Dive Rescue Team.
As I was leaving the Military I met my wonderful wife. We have been happily married 14 years, and have a little angel who is now 6 years old. Most of my time is devoted to them, but when I get away I spend my time riding or hunting. My wife has recently gotten a RZR 900, so now riding is becoming more of a family hobby as opposed to just my hobby.
I didn’t grow up riding bikes or quads. Instead I got into riding street bikes when I was in the military. Eventually I got rid of the street bike and after a few years without a bike I purchased a dual sport bike. After about a year I purchased a 99’ Suzuki RM 250 to practice skills, so I wouldn’t tear up my nice dual sport. Eventually I realized I was hardly riding the dual sport bike and was spending all my time on the dirt bike, so I sold my dual sport and devoted all my riding time to the dirt. The past couple of years I’ve become interested in racing and have dabbled a little here and there. This year I’ve decided to compete in the NMA Enduro series. It's a 7 race series consisting of timekeepers, ISDE, and Sprint formats.
I find myself to be strong willed, self-motivated, and driven to succeed. I have no doubt I will quickly become competitive and move up the ranks.
Riding Goals
There are several areas of my riding I want to improve.
- Mastering the basics. In every sport people want to skip the basics and learn ADVANCED skills. I’ve come to realize over time ADVANCED skills are nothing more than the mastering of the basics, so I want to return my focus to the mastering of the basics.
- Fully commit to moto training. I currently split my riding sessions up into endurance, sprint, and skills sessions.
- Improve physical fitness. I've implemented an off season program so my fitness peaks at the beginning of race season.
