Personal History
Hello i'm Kody Klamar. I grew up on a family farm in northern Minnesota. Ever since i was a little kid i had the dream i could race motocross and be like one of the guys on tv. Fast forward to when i turned 18 i bought my first bike 2005 crf250r. I would ride it any chance i got and practiced jumping on the driveway approach (at the time it felt like big air). The next year i went to college for Diesel Mechanics and i brought my bike with. found a few friends to ride with and then started my first race season when i was 19. I learned alot my first year, and also crashed alot my first year. going into my second year i worked my tail off and the results showed, instead of battling for last i was close to podiums. That season came to an end after a practice crash resulting in two shattered ankles. the year after i only hit up a few select races due to ankle complications. Even though I struggled staying healthy early on, the last few years Ive been able to accomplish 3 local championships, which were always big goals from where I started. Moving forward I haven't lost any passion for the sport even thru the injuries and plan to continue riding toward my goals. When im unable to ride i like to go snowboarding, flying, being at the gym or any good cross-fit activity.
Riding Goals
For the 2020 season my goals are to get another good year in on my 2005 Yz250. Last year I was able to accomplish 1 title throughout the learning curve of the 2 stroke. I found great benefits in learning how to be fast on a 2 stroke that enabled me to be better on a 450. A big goal that I had last year and carry into this year is to purchase a new 450 but only when I am financially able to do so. Overall, having fun and staying healthy are at the top of the list, as well as helping the next generation of riders progress.
Competitive Highlights
Mud race in Larimore ND. Practice it had rained lightly and the track was premo. By my first moto it was absolutely pooring with water standing on the track. In each of my motos my starts were poor, but i fought my way up to third. First moto my goggles came off half way thru the second lap. Got up to third and on the back of second place but was unable to figure out a way around. Second moto about the same start and battled my way up to third once again. I made the pass for second, then a few turns later i picked a bad line and got stuck. remounted for third. All in all it was an absolute blast and i took 3rd overall.
Over the last couple of years I've had many memorable battles with guys that have pushed me to my absolute limit. Challenging my mind and body and just overall learning invaluable lessons that can be used on and off the track.
