Rider Updates

Aug 4 2015

Kiefer battled through a tough knee injury and finished 9th in the South Central Regional at Golden Pine and qualified to race at the National Championship at Loretta Lynn's.  His finishes weren't want he wanted but he got the experience of a lifetime competing at Loretta's.  He will definitely do better next year.

Aug 7 2014

Had a pretty good spring and summer but didn't make it to Loretta's this year.  This was the first year I have really been healthy.  I raced at Freestone in the youth regional but bike problems lead to me have to race my practice bike.  Unfortunately the next regional at Sunset Ridge was the next weekend and I had to race it two weeks in a row.  I did the best I could, but could only manage a 19th place finish.  After spending last week at Loretta's I know I am going to do my best to make it next year.

Going to spend the fall getting ready for the MIni O's and hope to have some good finishes there.  Thanks to all my sponsors for sticking with me.

2013 Season Recap

Got back to riding after breaking his leg in 2012.  Qualified for the North Central and South Central Regionals, and raced in the North Central Regional in Byron, IL.  The regional was a complete mudfest.  Unfortunately, Kiefer's bike quit while running in 3rd place in the first moto.  He grabbed the holeshot int he LCQ then got t-boned in the second turn in knee deep mud.  He raced as hard as he could and just missed qualifying for the mains.  Still very proud of him for his efforts.

In August he broke his arm while racing at Little Powersport.  He just recently got back to riding and finished 4th at the fall championship in Duquoin, IL.  This was a great event put on by RPM and is a part of the Motocross League of America.

He is working to get ready for the Mini O's right now.

He has been the points leader in the 65cc 7-9 and Open class for the Mid-South Championship for most of the season, and should get the number 1 plate in both of those classes.

Our trip to the Area Qualifier at Tony Wynn MX resulted in a broken tibia for Kiefer.  It happened in the last moto, when he hit a kicker that knocked his foot off the peg.  Wasn't a bad crash but he knew something was broken.  So he spent the next 7 weeks in a cast from hip to toe.  He is starting to get good motion back in his leg and this weekend he finally was able to ride a bicycle.  He told me this morning he wished he could ride his dirtbike.

Hopefully he will be riding again in 2 weeks.

Our first trip to the Mini O's was a rough one.  We arrived Wednesday and watch some supercross action and took a track walk.  Kiefer was really excited about racing at Gatorback.  Our first practice was early Thursday morning and the track was pretty wet.  Kiefer crashed when he cased the Gatorsback and went off the side of the track with the bike landing on top of him.  He was out of sight of the flagger and no one was able to see him to help him get up.  I eventually get a medic's attention and he went and helped Kiefer out.  By this time practice was over for the 50's.  So he didn't even get a lap of practice in.

Race time gets to us late on Thursday afternoon.  Kiefer was on the outside for the start of the race and got hung up in the deep mud trying to come across and get back to the inside.  He continued on passing a few bikes across the gators back and then another in the long sweeper.  I saw him come up over the big hill and drop in to the table top but he didn't come out.  The flags were waving and the medics were on the scene.  Kiefer reappeared on the table top and got his bike going again.  By this time he was way out of it, but he finished the race.  When it was over he went straight to the truck.  It was there that I found out he got hit from behind by another rider.  They both went down hard.  He had hit his head pretty hard and pretty soon was sick.  We took him back to the medics and him checked out.  His condition didn't get better and we found ourselves in the ER at North Florida Regional.

It is his first concussion and he hasn't dealt very well with not being able to ride or really do anything.  We will visit the doctor later this week and hopefully he will get released to ride again later this week.

Sep 7 2011

Been I a little while since we posted any news, but there has been a whole lot going on.  Kiefer has been racing and practicing a lot this spring and summer, but things got really serious after our trip to Loretta's for the nationals the first week of August.  He has always said that he wants to make it to Loretta's but he came back from that week of watching as a spectator with a whole new attitude.  He REALLY WANTS IT bad now.  He has started practing 2-3 times a week, not just riding the track but really working hard.  His lap times have picked up by around 15 seconds at our home track (Lawmanmx.com).

After a short break from racing he hit Hawk Pride MX with a vengence the last weekend of August.  I really thought we were going to be replacing a motor after that weekend.  He was in the gas all day long.  I was really proud of him and so happy to see him raise that number 1 plate up at the end of the day.

We hit a stretch of back to back weekend races with MX886 and Dirty Deeds MX September 11 and September 17th.  Then we take a few weeks off before going to Corner MX for the Alabama Championship Series and Golden Pine Raceway for the AMA Mississippi Championship.  We finish the fall up with a trip to the Mini O's at Gatorback Cycle Park.

Jan 24 2011

After a tough opening round of the AX Tour Kiefer has bounced back strong and now sits second in the points only 1 back.  Kiefer has finished 2nd and 3rd overall after a tough 13 place finish in the opener.  He keeps getting better on the tight arena cross tracks each weekend.  If the pattern continues we should see some overall victories very soon.

Jan 5 2011

We kick off round 1 of the 2011 AX Tour in Jackson, MS.  The AX Tour is a 8 Round series that finishes up on March 5th in Memphis, TN.  Kiefer is really excited about running the whole series and is shooting for a championship.  This is our first official series to race in, and we will be joined by a lot of good riders from Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Tenn.

Oct 27 2010

Kiefer Martin and MAX Motocross will head out for Meridian Friday evening in preparation for Saturday's race at Lake Motocross in Lake, MS.  Kiefer has taken a couple of weeks of to practice and get ready for the event.  Hopefully there will be a great turnout for the race.  It will be the first time Team MAX has raced at Lake so who knows what to expect, but I am sure everyone will do great.

We will have a full race recap on Monday so check back soon.  Thanks to Choice Hotels for the hook up Friday night, we are looking forward to staying with you.  Thanks to all of our sponsors and MXSponsor for the great support this year.

Sep 10 2010

We arrived at Warrior MX Friday night for practice and found a completely reworked track.  The new layout was very technical and pretty tough on the 50's.  Kiefer had a viscous crash on Friday night, but walked away unharmed, just some bumps and bruises.

Racing was tough on Saturday night, but Kiefer won the first moto.  The second moto turned into a crash fest.  The new track layout may have been a little much for the 50's.  Kiefer went down but battled back for a second place finish in the moto.  His 1/2 finish put him second overall for the night.

Sep 7 2010

Kiefer has been racing every chance he gets and practicing even more.  This weekend he raced at Warrior MX Park and finished second overall. He spent Labor Day practicing at Lawman MX.  He is going to run at least 5 more races this fall before the Arena Cross season starts.  He is also planning on running the AMA Pro-AM at Millcreek in November.

Aug 6 2010

Kiefer Martin has his KTM ready to race past the competition this weekend at Warrior MX in Warrior, Alabama.  Racing starts at 6:00 PM Saturday night, and the good folks at Warrior are expecting a great turn out for the double points race.  Check back Sunday for news and pictures from Saturday nights race.

Jul 18 2010

Kiefer Martin came home with two first place trophies last night at Dirty Deeds MX.  What a great night of racing on his KTM 50SX Senior Pro.
