Personal History
My name is Kelsey Murdock. I am 23 years old and I am from Groton, NY. Many people in my family have raced harescrambles and this passion as trickled down to me. This year was the 20th annual Knobby Acres Harescramble Race that my family hosts. I would volunteer each year, well before I started racing. As you can see, this sport is strong throughout my family. I have a bachelors in biology and currently work as a Fish and Wildlife Technician. I love hiking, traveling, camping, mountain biking, and of course harescrambles.
Riding Goals
My older brother has been racing harescrambles for 15 years. Once I graduated college, I decided to follow in his footsteps. Now we travel and do this sport together. I am looking forward to this upcoming season being more commited on and off the track. Being more consistent in the gym and having more dedicated seat tim to allow myself to grow my skills and techniques.
Competitive Highlights
My first year racing the NYOA series in 2022 I placed 8th in the womens class. This year I also placed 8th in the womens class. This may not show much growth in advancements on paper, but looking at lap times, I was twice as fast as I was the previous year. In just one year not only my speed increased, but so did my comfort level. I feel way more competitive now and I only plan to continue this moving forward with my training.
