Personal History
My name is Keith Garrett. I am 41 years old and grew up around dirt bikes. I have a wife and 5 children. I spent 14 years in Law Enforcement and retired in 2019. I now work at a Shipyard as a Purchasing Manager. My dad was an accomplished amateur racer in the 70's and he passed this sport on to me. I rode consistently until I was 19 years old when I had a severe crash in the Oregon Dunes. I stopped riding until 2019. In 2019 I purchased a KTM 300 and began trail riding with my family. Also in 2019, I began racing a 1974 Yamaha YZ125 in vintage races with moderate success.
In 2020, I purchased a Beta 200RR for trail riding and rode about 5 months of the year in Central Oregon on single track. My family and I are very involved in the off road riding scene in Central Oregon.
In 2021, I continued to ride my Beta for trail riding. In August, I raced my brother in-laws 1979 Yamaha YZ250 at the Northwest Challenge at Washougal. I placed 3rd in my class. Shortly after the Northwest Challenge, I purchased my own built 1979 Yamaha YZ250.
In 2022, I raced two events in the Pacific Northwest Vintage series and continued to trail ride my Beta until I traded it in for a 2022 GasGas EX250F.
Riding Goals
Continue to race my 1979 Yamaha YZ250 in the Pacific Northwest Vintage series. For 2023, my goal is to race in all of the races to be in the point standings.
Also for 2023, I plan to begin racing my GasGas 250F in local events including Amateur Days at Washougal.
I will continue to trail ride my GasGas on the Oregon Coast and Central Oregon.
