Personal History
I was exposed to motorcycles at an early age, my grandfather was a mechanic in Riverside county during the birth of clubs and motocross racing. My father naturally become infatuated with motocross in the early days of the sport as it grew in SoCal in the 60's and 70's. Growing up in Florida in the 90's I didn't get to see to much of the sport, but when we would visit our family in SoCal moto was a way of life and I loved it! My first real experience was attending the 2005 Daytona SX race, that was a life changer. In 2006 I started working for MXSouth.com and the daily exposure to moto companies and distributers just catapulted my love for the sport.
My involvement in the sport grew quicker than my skill on a dirt bike, growing up I was not allowed to do activities like motocross so I relied on my coworkers and friends to help me learn how to ride. Friends who were actively chasing their dreams racing in SX Lites, I quickly learned the basic mechanics of riding. After I joined the Navy I was extremely fortunate to be stationed in San Diego CA for 6 years. I spent a majority of those years riding some of the best tracks and areas in the world! My skills on the bike grew and my confidence multiplied! I was living the dream, serving in the military and getting to ride at places like Pala, Glen Helen, Ocotillo Wells, Perris, and Milestone. It was an experience I will always be grateful for.
Fast forward to 2023, I had left the Navy after 12years of service, had two boys, and my wife and I decided to move to North East Michigan (Alpena area) to offer our kids a genuine childhood experience. But there are not many tracks up here to ride, so for the first 2 years I worked on laying out a small track at our house and riding trails in the state forest.
I had a coworker tell me about this little track in town that a small group of people were trying to revive. They posted an open ride day on social media so I decided to load up my sons 70 and my KX500 to go give it shot. The members there approached me (KX500 lol) and wanted to get to know my son and I, they asked if I was willing to join the club and help restore a once legendary NE Michigan track to its full potential. I joined because I knew how important it is for the sport to have places for kids to ride and grow. Since then I have grown a tight bound with our little moto family up here and continue to want our club and more importantly our sport grow at the grass roots family level.
Riding Goals
My riding goal is not for myself, but for my two sons. To inspire them through my example to follow your passion. I want to be a positive example of hard work, fitness, and skill development for any passion they have in life by how I approach motocross. My hope is to inspire and support them whether is in racing at a competitive level or just riding dirt bikes for fun, just so long they enjoy and have fun in whatever it is they want to do as a life long passion.
For me, I just want to continue to learn my moto craft, rebuild my fitness, and be able to hang with the younger generations. If there ever is a opportunity to race again and my family supports me, I will. A goal would be to compete in the Warrior class at Loretta Lynn's or Daytona Amateur days.
Competitive Highlights
In 2016 between deployments I was able to race 4 out of 6 rounds of the TWMX Fall Classic series. I finished 1st in three of the rounds and had a DNF on the 4th. I missed the other two rounds due to work commitments in the Navy, and missed out on winning the Championship by one round.
Not competitive but important to me. I am a self taught track designer and builder. It started as a single lane track at my parents house in South Florida, to now a dedicated 2.5 acre space for an hybrid SX/Arena style track at my house in NE Michigan. I learned how to map out a area, figure out a flowing layout, and design different features based on the terrain and my experiences riding tracks from Cali and Florida. My current track project is two years in the making and this summer (2025) I plan to have it nearly complete. My goal is to have a kid friendly track that they can learn and have fun on, but also something where more experienced riders can enjoy and progress their skills on as well.
