Personal History

Hi, my name is Major Phillip and I ride a Husqvarna 85. I started riding in the spring of 2020, amid the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. It provided a sense of freedom and escape from the restrictions that enveloped so many other aspects of life. Starting out with a KTM 65, I rapidly honed my skills, mastering the use of a clutch in just one day. My commitment to training and racing intensified in my inaugural year of riding. 2022 marked a turning point as I started training under the guidance of Dan Callahan, propelling my journey to a new level. Making the transition to an 85cc, I fearlessly entered the 85cc 9-11 class at the tender age of 9, achieving commendable results. However, misfortune struck at a race due to inadequate track maintenance, resulting in severe injuries including a full tear to my ACL and MCL, along with a slight tear in my meniscus. Despite these setbacks, I valiantly completed all of his races, securing a remarkable 15th place finish while injured. Following surgery to repair my torn ACL,  my indomitable spirit shone through as I graduated from 5th grade in a wheelchair just two days later. Enduring seven months of rigorous rehabilitation, I refused to be deterred, recommencing his training in January to mount a remarkable recovery in 2023. Despite the obstacles, my determination prevailed, achieving a top 5 placement in his class and ultimately clinching 3rd place in his D2, a notable triumph. And now, as I look ahead to the future, I am gearing up to compete in the 85cc 12-15, Junior Mini, and Super Mini classes in the upcoming year.

Riding Goals

My riding goals are to travel to other states and ride on multiple of tracks, being able to transfer my skills to any track I ride.

Competitive Highlights

In my last race, I got the holeshot while getting flat in the process.  I pushed until I passed the checkered flag and I got 2nd place.
