Personal History
My name is Kaitlyn Jacobs and I am an 8th grader at Union Middle School in San Jose, Ca. It started riding dirt bikes at the age of 7. I started on a TTR-50, then to a TTR-110, my first clutch bike was a KLX-140 followed by a CRF150F. When I outgrew the CRF, my dad got me my current bike, a KTM 250 xcf-w. My KTM is lower 2 inches.
I am a very good student in school. I maintain an A grade. My favorite subject is PE but science is good too.
My dad started entering me in the HHORA para-scramble races once I got on my TTR-110. I did 2 para scramble races before my parents were comfortable to put me in youth class races. I have raced the HHORA Hareball and WildWabbit every year since. I have always place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in those races in the youth class.
Because I am now on a 250 4stroke, I have to race adult women classes. The first one was the Hareball 2014. I came in 6th as a 13yr old against WOMEN!! I asked my parents to take the next step to ama district racing. I just did my first district 36 race, January 17th 2015. It was the Prairie City Grand Prix in Rancho Cordova, CA. I placed 5th in the C-Womens class! I was nervous as I had never rode there before but by the last lap, I was running the leading women lap time!
Riding Goals
My 2014 Goal is to finish all AMA District 36 cross country races in the top 5!
My 2015 Goal is to win the C-Women class championship and earn enough advancement points to race B-Women in 2016.
In the next 4 years I plan to progess to A-Women classification so that by 18, I can go pro in either the WORCS or GNCC championship.
UPDATE: 10/15/2015
I took 3rd place in the 2015 AMA District 36 SPRING Cross Country Championship for the C Women class.
As of, October 15th 2015, I have won the first 2 races of the 2015 AMA District 36 FALL Cross Country Championship for the C Women class. As such I am leading the points race to the championship. I am hopeful to bump to the B class for the 2016 season if I win the championship. I may even start to run select mens classes.
Competitive Highlights
All youth class races in HHORA, I finished top 3!
First AMA District 36 race, I finished 5th and my last lap was a comparable speed to the women's leader speed. I did this at 13 years old and the other women were all 18 yrs and older!!
I am currently being trained by Brian Garrahan of Garrahan OffRoad Training. He is a multi-time District 36 #1 plate holder as well as top finisher in WORCS, GNCC and ISDE races!
