Personal History
My names Justin and I have been riding since i was about 6. However the 2014 season will be my first full season of racing. I am 18 and a senior in high school and it has been difficult to find time for racing and practicing. Working a part time job at the local grocery store, working on the farm, and keeping up with school to have a good GPA is very time consuming, but because I am graduating this may I am prepared to spend all of my time focused on my racing. Ever since I was a little I have always been thrilled when a race came on TV. My uncle got me into racing when i was just a child. Ill never forget the day he brought over an xr70 it felt like the fastest most thrilling thing i have ever been on. Other than going to the track every time I get the chance I enjoy hanging out with my friends and having a good time. I enjoy hanging out in the pits at the local races and getting to know everyone.
Riding Goals
My riding goals for the 2014 are to significantly improve my riding skills. I want to practice 4-5 times a week and race every chance I get. By the end of the season my biggest goal is to be a top 5 finisher in my class and get bumped up to B class.
Competitive Highlights
My biggest Competition Highlight was the night I raced Megacross in Mendota IL. Being my first race my nerves got to me really bad. I stalled my bike entering the track at practice because my hands were so shaky and i was having a hard time working the clutch. I rode about three laps and felt like I was one of the slower riders, i had never ridden with so many people around me before. At the end of practice I had a talk with my friend who is a Vet at the sport who was keeping a close eye on me, he gave me some pointers. when it came time to line up at the gate it was even worse but I knew I was ready. I was lined up almost all the way on the outside of the first turn. I remembered my friend told me to look at the gate next to mine because my reflex time would be better. the engines began to rev and every thing on my mind went away, adrenaline hit me like a brick wall and I was determined to race. the gate dropped and i had about a mid pack start. I passed two people on the whoops and another in a turn it was crazy I really enjoyed knowing I could go faster and smoother than other people. two laps in however the race was red flagged and my experience came to a halt. Ill never forget the way I felt at my first gate drop, or how insane it was racing everybody when everyone wants to win. that's why I am determined to do my best in the 2014 season and show people that although I may be a beginner to racing, I am always going to be determined to do my best and just have fun.
