Neb.)  Justin Brooks gears up to ride for more than one reason.  One
reason is to improve his own skills, though that is not the only thing Brooks
enjoys about riding.  Justin finds it to be his mission to "try to
get someone new every day,” this is something I have figured out first
hand because he is in the process of teaching me the ways of motocross.  I
find it extremely easy to work with Justin as he brings his laid back, fun
personality and utilizes it on the track.


After
one session of riding with Brooks you immediately find yourself as part of the
crew.  He focuses on "taking it all in" and "understanding
what you're doing and feeling what the bike wants to do."  There is
something about riding next to someone that allows for a connection deeper than
the surface.  This is something that many people, both children and
adults, have discovered about Justin Brooks.


On
October 17, 2010, Justin raced in the NCMA motocross season finale.  This
happened to be my first race and I was lucky enough to accompany Justin, who
seemed to be the local celebrity; giving me racing tips and constantly walking
the pits socializing with everyone he passed.  One lap around the pits and
anyone can immediately see the attention he receives.  It ranges from mini
riders trying to hang out and get pictures with him, to vet riders coming for
some tips on starts.  Though no matter whom it is, he does not turn any
one down or treat them as anything but a friend.  I found this especially
humbling because it seems like motocross was his sanctuary and nothing could
bring him down; even the cold he was battling.  The sinus pressure would
have sidelined any one else, though he happened
