Personal History
I began riding dirtbikes in 1989 at the age of 5. I began on a 1982 Honda XR 80. In 1993 I changed over to a 1987 Honda XR 100. During these years I rode recreationally on my 200 acre family farm. 1998 I purchased a 1993 Honda XR 250. With this bike I began racing in the Virginia Championship Hare Scramble Series. I only raced one race in 1998 and did not finish the race due to mechanical failure. I raced a few races in 1999 aboard this same bike in the 250 beginner class. It was at this time that I purchased a 1998 Yamaha YZF400. I converted this bike into a cross over designed for Hare Scramble and Motocross. I then began traveling to the remainder of the races that year and won the majority of the races during the second half of that season. I finished third for the year in that class. In 2000 I was diagnosed with a tumor in my right elbow. Despite major surgery and radiation therapy I raced four stroke B class. I won 8 out of 12 races that I attended and won the four stroke B state championship in the Virginia Championship Hare Scramble Series. I also ran a 6 hour Ironman race in North Carolina and finished third.
In 2001 I expanded my racing career and began racing various motocross and arenacross when not racing hare scrambles. I was riding a 2001 YZ426F. 2001 I finished second place for the year in four stroke A class. I finished top three, eight out of 12 races and four of those were wins. I was ranked 12th overall for the year in the VCHSS. I also won various motocross races in Virginia and North Carolina.
In 2002 I purchased a 2002 YZ250F. I sustained a major leg injury at a national qualifier at Actiontown Motocross Park. This prevented me from racing in the VCHSS in 2002. I did however run some arenacross races and won them in 125B class.
2003 I returned to the VCHSS and participated in Four-stroke A class. I participated in 12 events that year. Of those 12, I finished top three places ten times. Eight of those ten were first place and two were second place. I was ranked 13th overall for the year in the VCHSS.
2004 I raced 250A class. I finished second for the year in this class. I participated in 12 out of 15 races. Of those twelve seven of them I finished top three and won four events. I was ranked 12th overall for the year. In 2005 I moved to AA (PRO) class. I did not participate the entire year due to injury but did run a few races and finished top 10 overall when I did race. In 2006 I suffered a major work related injury and did not race at all. I returned to racing in 2017 after having a career and family established. I participated in 30+A class. The first part of the season I was riding a 2009 Honda CRF250R and had several mechanical issues. In June of 2017 I purchased a 2017 KTM XCF 350. I finished 5th in this class in 2017 and was ranked 35th overall for the year in the VCHSS.
For 2018 I have not had any time to train or ride but have already starting making adjustments to do so during the off-season. I am currently ranked 34th overall in the VCHSS with four races left for the season to improve.
My four children are beginning to race now and a lot of my time is devoted to them. We maintain all of our equipment and keep it very presentable. So your assistance will not just be promoted on one bike in one class. I have four children two of them actively race and my younger two will be in 2020. Thank you for time and consideration.
Riding Goals
i intend on continuing to train and return to the top 20 overall ranked Hare Scramble racers in Virginia. I also will conintue to work with my children to help them sharpen their skills and abilities.
