Personal History
My name is Joshua Philip Cecil. I started racing when I was 6 years old. My first race was a Hare Scramble and I took 3rd place that day. I will keep that trophy the rest of my life. I have been a member of the AMA for 8 years now. This will be my 1st year on my 450 racing flat track. I am racing in AMA District 17. After the flat track season is over we are headed back to the woods to run some hare scrambles.
My mom and dad always remind me that not all kids get to do what I get to do so I need to stay in check and remind myself sometimes that there is a bigger picture than motorcycle riding. So as long as I carry my self well and respect others good things will come. My Mom and Dad go without a lot of times so my brother and I can have what we need for racing, not many kids get to have that growing up. Also I'm reminded that school work comes first and if it's not done than I won't be racing come the weekend. And that would hurt them just as much because they love the sport as much as I do.
I think my dad likes the woods racing more because that's what he has always rode when he was growing up. I think mom and grandma like flat track more because they can see the whole race. I think Flat Track is my favorite but I still love the woods.
Next season I hope to compete in both hare scramble and dirt track racing in the 450cc class.
Riding Goals
My main goal to ride to the best of my ability and learn more every time I ride. I have a little brother coming up behind me and I want to be a good role model for him. I realize winning isn't everything but it sure feels better when I do.
We mostly race the district races, so we race a lot of the same tracks a lot. I want to start racing more on the National circuit to see what I have against the best of the best. If it means I have to race less races because the big races will be further away that's what I will do. In the end it's still my parents decision and that's what will decide. I just have to be the best person I can be and whatever happens, happens.
I would like a chance to race the Grand Nationals in Flat Track to try and win the #1 plate in the Nation. I would like to turn pro when I turn 16 but that is along way off right now.
