Personal History

Hello all, My name is Josh Rockwell, I began riding/racing at the age of 7. I grew up hunting, riding, and fishing in the greater North East of this great nation throughout my childhood. While traveling this great nation doing what we all love to do...race dirt bikes, I began to develop a sense of pride and patriotism for this Country. It was in the spring of 2006 while training to make my run at the AMA Pro Motocross Nationals that I felt so lead to enlist. That being said I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. You may ask yourself why the Marine Corps? Well, as MXers we all know we go all out, all the time. So with that I joined the Corps. Trained as an Infantryman, and a Machine Gunner I was deployed to Ramadi, Iraq in 2007. That deployment would change my life forever. On October 16th, 2007 I was wounded in action on a combat patrol much like any other. As a result I ended up losing most of my left foot/ankle, and the use of my lower left leg. Despite this, I refused to have this injury get in the way of doing the things I loved. I was determined. After spending about 4 straight months in a Naval hospital away from home, and family in Germany, and then in Virginia I was sent into the VA system in which I continued my healing process. After a period of 3 1/2 years and 10 surgeries I began to walk and feel normal again. As of today I am ever so grateful to my Doctors who put me back together, piece by tiny piece. With the aid of a prosthetic/orthotics I am able to once again to most of things I enjoy doing, and al of the things that are important to me most. I am now able to even fulfill my life's passion of racing MX, and doing so at a level I never thought I would be able to when I was first injured. I now am a full time college student and find myself happily married to my high school sweetheart, Courtney. I now consider my injury a blessing in disguise, as I would have never had the opportunities to meet even half the people I have meet, gone on the many adventures I have gone on, made the Nationals I have made, and have the memories to last a lifetime. None of this would have been possible if it were not for those that believed in me, my wife, my family, and even the sponsors that have stuck by my side! So here is to a great 2013 season!
