Personal History

My name is Josh Prior and riding my dirt bike has been one of the most consistent and overarching aspects of my life since I was young. I threw my leg over a bike for the first time when I was five years old and never turned back from there. However, the last two years of racing have been my most successful, qualifying for Loretta Lynn’s Amateur Nation Championship in 2013 and in 2014. This achievement is the pinnacle of my career. It still amazes me how riding a dirt bike for the first time at that age would mold my life into what it is now. I have the great privilege of pursuing my dreams while also obtaining a quality education. As my competition and myself grow older, it becomes increasingly urgent to make a choice in order to continue racing and bear the sacrifices it takes to do so, or move on to something else. Being faced with this question myself, I am finding it difficult to balance the two. It is hard to ride now that I am supporting myself mostly and riding out of my van while going to college at Coastal Carolina University. Connecticut is a long way from where I go to school and everything I need to live for the year fits into my van. My dirt bikes were considered a necessity on my packing list. The qualities I take on and embrace have set me up to tackle the challenges of life, and the sport I love head on. With this driving determination there are still many parts of a much greater picture. In such a small, but united community, the people I look to for help are usually the ones to understand me best. My family and myself have put so much into the sport I love but we cannot do this on our own. I come to people, like yourself, looking to help me continue to do what I love most. The results I have been getting are just as important as my personality and these two things are what others will notice. I am an individual and by supporting an individual, people will look to who makes them strong. I have always tried to do all that I can to succeed in what matters the most to me and I have two very important challenges that I do not want to put in anything but my best effort. Thank you for your consideration.

Riding Goals

My personal goals for riding are to continue riding and training hard and try to hit all the major amateur nationals that I can. My goal is to turn expert after Loretta Lynn's 2015 and hopefully get my pro license from there. I going to work hard and try to secure anther top 10 at Loretta Lynn's this upcoming year.
