On January 05, 2008 the Bass Arenacross kicked off again at the DuQuoin, Illinois State Fair grounds.  After practice, Guetersloh was confident going into the evening program.  In the first heat of the 125 B class Guetersloh was in 5th place.  1st through 6th place where seperated by only a few bike lengths and on the landing of the Bass Productions largest catapult to date, tragedy struck.  The 2nd place bike crashed taking out three others on the landing.  Guetersloh came away from the crash with a broken wrist and severe dislocation.

So, the arenacross season is brought to a close early for Guetersloh.  Hopefully all will heal well and he will be ready for the outdoor, as it does not start until mid-March.  Guetersloh stated he can't wait to get back on the bike and start the season and is looking forward to making his sponsors proud.

Our first Branson Nationals did not go as planned. Joe signed up for the 250 stock and modified classes. Of the 4 motos run, only one was completed. The first moto, Joe went down in a first turn pile up and his gas line was severed. The line was replaced for the next moto. Gate drop of moto #2 found us with a poor gate pick and a bad line choice (by the mechanic) which proved bad for Joe. A deep kicker 5 feet in front of the gate found him struggling to maintain control and in last place going into turn 1 with a moto of 27 riders. He was able to work his way up to 11th before the checker flag was waved. The third moto found him in 11th position after another less than stellar start when the bike died in a corner and would not restart. 4th moto, Joe's gate did not drop and inexperience showed. Instead of staying at the gate and calling an alibi, he hit the gate with his front wheel repeatedly until it finally dropped. Everyone had cleared the first turn by the time his gate dropped and the chase was on. By midway of lap 2 he found himself in 9th setting up a pass for 8th when he cross rutted in a corner and went down. Once again the bike died and would not start. Joe's mechanic accepted responsibility because he did not take the carburetor off of the bike and clean it when the gas line was severed in moto 1.

Joe's next race will be October 21st at South Central MX in Salem, IL. This is the last round of the AMA District 18 Championship Series. The carb has been cleaned and we are ready to go!

Today at Mitchell's Motocross Park in Rolla, MO. Joseph Guetersloh clinched the AMA Ditrict 18 125 "C" class title for 2007. Guetersloh finished the day with 4th overall with a 3-5. With one round left to run, this takes all the pressure off. So the last round will just be icing on the cake! He now sets his sights on the Branson Nationals and the upcoming arenacross series by Bass Productions in Southern Illiinois and Western Kentucky. "I'm really looking forward to the "B" class and think I will do well".
