Rider Updates

Aug 26 2012

So we have a small off period to our race schedule with PSTR. To ride and keep sharp we will be doing a few Netra events. Off to NY we went, 5 hour drive out there for a great day of racing. Turnout was about 60 riders in the c-class. 15 in c-light with all the regular Netra racers there that have been chasing points since race 1. Got to the line and claimed our spot, our line was about 50 feet from the 90 degree right hand turn. I got a good start, took the holeshot but over shot corner two and lost three positions. I was able to make them up quickly and start to put some time between me and the second place rider. But i started hitting the slower riders from the first two line and there refusal to move over slowed me down. In the End, i walked away with 2nd overall and 1st in C-light.

Off to Swansea we go....Our First time at this venue. We had been told with the expected rain it could be very muddy, but since we havent had rain and we are near drought condition here in Southern Massachusetts the track was dusty and visability was about a bike length. It was important that i get the holeshot and check out early! Leave the dust behind....And that what I did. Had clear trail for the first 4 laps till i started hitting lappers and the dust cloud. I Managed a 1st by 2 minutes. About an hour before my second moto it started to rain, then it started to pour....the dust quickly turned to mud. I grabed my second holeshot of the day and before entering the woods i was 10 seconds in the lead. Coming out of the woods i was 30 seconds and by lap 3 of 9 i had 3:30 seconds on 2nd place. By lap three i was heavy into the lappers, and covered in mud. Had to be a bit creative with my passes as the C-class know no race manors and most will not move over easily. Even when being told they are being lapped. I finished 1-1 for the day...My first PSTR win in 4 years....and moved into the points lead. I am half way to the championship!

Off to Mattaposit we went, first time racing there and it was NASTY! The rock gardens are non-stop, deep mud holes, it was brutal! I had to stop because my arm was in so much pain, but i managed to keep a 3-3 for the day and come out with a 2nd O/A.

Well, with the cast 13 days old i had made a few modifications to it to fit my handlebars. This race is not a short course but a traditional Hare Scramble. 9 mile course, 2 hrs of racing! This course has it all, deep mud holes, lots of rocks, lots of single track and ofcourse water crossings! Todays goal is to finish and attempt to collect some points and stay close after the last race. I got a decent start, 5th going into the woods. after lap one i was in 3rd where i stayed and paced myself. I knew i just had to stay close, but my arm was kiilling me. By lap three i knew it was time to turn it up. I was about 1:20 down behind the leader. I picked up my pace and got the lead down to :17 seconds but ran out of time. I'll take a second place finish and head how with my cast!

Back to Demoranvilles we are. PSTR seems to hold several races here a year, the terrian is rough, wet and nasty....A typical Hare Scramble in New England! Moto one did not start too well for us....Dead last off the line of about 24 riders as we took turn one into the grass track. Was able to pick off a bunch before hitting the woods, at the end of lap 1...I was sitting in first and being stalked by a kid on a 250 exc. We battled for awhile but i was able to pull away from him for the Moto 1 win. Moto 2 started far better as i grabbed the hole shot and took off. Lap two would be a killer as i had a major get off and broke my left arm down the sandy high speed straight away. So i finished 1-15 for 7th place. Off to the Er we went.
