Personal History
I started racing quads in 2004. My first "race" bike was a Blaster. Ran several races in Beginner Open against 450's and consistently finished mid-pack despite being severely out-motored by everyone. Bought a Cannondale Moto in 2005, stepped up to C and won a couple races and finished top 3 in all but but that year. In 2006, I bought an LTR450 and won the first race of the year. I had a really bad wreck at the end of the year and decided to stop racing.
I got in to cars and started drag racing. I built a nitrous Mustang, a turbo Mustang, a GTO with a high compression ls6, and a turbo ls1 powered Ford Thunderbird. Cars were fun for awhile but the novelty eventually wore off.
I recently bought a 2001 YZ125 as a toy with no intention of racing. It didn't take long before I caught the bug, though, and started racing again. I won my first three races in 250f Beginner and stepped up to 250f C, the class I'm currently racing in.
Riding Goals
I don't really have any goals set in stone for the current season, as far as finishes go or final points standings. I obviously want to do as well as possible but the most important thing to me is adjusting to two wheels instead of four and getting faster every time I throw a leg over the bike. I'll most likely finish the year on my YZ125, unless I find a great deal on a four stroke. I will definitely be on a new 250f next spring and hopefully move up to B/Intermediate by the middle of the season.
Competitive Highlights
Won 24 races on quads in Open C. Finished third in the Tri-State Fair Series in 2005 and first in 2006. Finished third in the HLR track championship in Open C, despite missing three races due to moving up to Open B, where I finished sixth, fourth, and second.
This year, I won all three beginner races I entered in 250f Beginner on my 2001 YZ125. Moved up to 250f C and have finished sixth and third in my first two races.
I realize that my previous experience on quads doesn't directly translate to performance on a bike but it definitely gives me a serious head start as opposed to never racing. I'm new to two wheels but I'm not new to motocross and I'm actually making the transition a lot better than I expected.
