Personal History

I teach English, and I am the Yearbook Advisor for South Anchorage High School, in Anchorage Alaska. I'm a recent transplant to Alaska, having moved from Riverside, CA. and got involved in the local motocross scene as a way to share my passion for motorcycles with my children.

I've been riding dirt bikes for almost thirty years.  I learned to ride in the hills of Reche Canyon, Southern California. I was not able to go racing then for a multitude of reasons, but I'm excited about giving those opportunities to my children.  I've been married for 16 years, and am the proud father of two boys, Simon and Ethan.

This summer was special because, "the teacher became the student"  My oldest son Simon surpassed me in speed and stamina at the tracks.  We were able to race together in the same class and having him pass me on the last lap to take another position was one of my proudest moments as both a father and coach.  My youngest, Ethan, is coming up fast and I sure I will get passed by him soon.

Riding Goals

I'm at an interesting spot right now--My goal last year was to have at least one "podium" finish, but I struggled through the first part of the season desperately trying to not come in last.  By the second third of the season however, I had reached my goal--I finished several races in third place overall and I got my first overall (2-1) in the final race of the season.  Having beaten "the fast guy" has given me the confidence to hunt for the championship next year.

Competitive Highlights

Holeshot award winner, Alaska State Race #9.

Several starts in the "top three" riding a YZ125 in a field of 250 and 450 four-strokes.

Lead every lap in the final race of the season for my 1st moto win and subsequent overall win

I've finished every race I've started!
