Personal History
My name is Joey Perez, I am 10 years old and in the 5th grade. I currently live on an Army base called Fort Irwin in California. I am an Army brat and have lived here at Fort Irwin (for a second time) and also at Fort Polk in Louisiana. When I was 4 years old I started riding a quad and then switched to riding a dirt bike when I turned 7. Currently, I ride a 1999 Kawasaki KX 60 that got passed down to me from an older cousin of mine. Fortunately, both the Army bases I have lived on both have had a motocross track that my family and I have spent hours riding on. My grandpa would even tape a flashlight to my old TTR-50 so that I could ride at night when it got dark. Besides riding my dirt bike, I also enjoy playing baseball and played for Fort Irwin Little League where I played Left Field, Pitcher and Catcher. Fishing and camping are other favorite hobbies of mine. Not only do I enjoy riding on motocross tracks but I also enjoy riding my dirt bike in the desert. This fall will be the start of my rookie year racing competitively.
Riding Goals
This is my first year of racing and my goal is to get the experience and learn from the races that I participate in. My dad and I are going to use the Army's way of training, which is the crawl, walk and run method. Crawl by going over the basics of riding the bike, from body position to manuevering with the bike stationary and building a foundation to learn on. Walk by going on the track and putting in some laps and practicing different sections and obstacles to help develop muscle memory. And finally, run by racing competitively in local races.
