Personal History
Hi my names Joel Wright I live in a town on the North West Coast of Tasmanian called Ulverstone. I’m currently employed as a second year electrical apprentice working on Hydro electric schemes. I grew up with my family having backgrounds in farming and forestry so I've grow up with bikes. I got my first bike when I was five, a 1999 Honda Z 50 which I still have in the shed.
My real passion is motorcycles. When I’m not riding I’m working on my current project a 1978 TT500 which I’m hoping to complete and vintage race some time down the track. My current race bike is a KTM EXC 200. I compete state wide in Grass tracks, Enduros, and EnduroX
I started racing in 2007 funding myself riding a 1998 KX 125. I’ve raced every season since and have continually improved each year.
.
Riding Goals
Over the next two years I'm hoping to improve and place in the top ten in the state and try race in some of Australia’s top Endurance races. This year I’ve put in a bit more effort trying to improve my self to reach this goal I'm currently finishing in the top 17 or so. I have bought a trials bike and started cross training and I’m hoping to start competing in this area non competitively next season.
Competitive Highlights
Over the past few years of racing I’ve had some success winning the Tasmanian Clubman Endurance series, multiple top 3 finishes in my prospective class in the Tasmanian 8 Hour Endurance race, third in the Pro Open B grass track series 2012 to name a few. My greatest riding achievements to date would have to be being the only junior team to complete the Tasmanian Endurance Clubs 8 Hour Endurance race in my first season when I was fourteen and most recently racing with a different regional club and finishing third in there expert class.
