Personal History

Hello everyone.  I wanted to give you my full story when it comes to riding and racing motocross.  I know it is a little long, but please take the time to read my story and specifically focus on my "Currently" section.

Thanks,

Jimmy

My past:

One day I watched a supercross race on TV and immediately wanted to race. After pestered my parents to get me a dirtbike for a few months they finally did. My first dirtbike was a tt-r 90 that I got when I was in 3rd grade. I trail rode it all the time with a family friend who got the same bike. In November 2003 I got my first motocross bike as a Christmas present, which was a brand new RM 100. I rode that with my friends, who raced motocross, all winter long. Once March 2004 came around, I entered my first motocross race ever by racing in the Supermini class. I placed 3rd out of 7 people. After that first race I was hooked on the sport. I continued to race locally every weekend. My father bought me a RM 85 so that I could race in the 85cc 14-15 class.  My first year of racing was going very well until I had my first big crash.  September 5th 2004 during practice at Flying Dutchman Mx I crashed while attempting to jump the huge finish line double.  I had to take an ambulance to the hospital where I had emergency facial reconstruction surgery.  I broke my nose in multiple places and broke my left eye socket.   However, this did not stop me from getting back on my bike.  By October I was cleared to ride again and was able to race the last race of the season at Sleepy Hollow Mx.  The following 2005 race season I continued to race the 85cc and Supermini classes.  My father bought me a RM 125 to practice on and I occasionally raced it in the Schoolboy class.  At the end of the 2005 season I parted my ways with the smaller bikes and got a RM-Z 250.  2006 I raced both the 125 and 250 in the Schoolboy class.  Following another successful race season I sold both my 125 and 250 to get a 2007 CRF 250r.  That following January and February I raced twice down at North Carolina Motorsports Park to prepare me for my first year in the 125 C class.  My first time down there in January I placed 4th and in February when I returned again I was able to finish in 1st place.  Not only was this the first time I ever won a race, it was also a huge confidence booster that I needed coming into new and competitive class.  One month later in March 2007 was the first race of the season for me at Pagoda Mx.  It was packed and there were 40+ riders that day for the 125 C class.  My first moto I got a great start and ran most of the race in 5th place.  It was a very dry and dusty day so the track crew was watering that track down in certain parts WHILE THE RACE WAS GOING ON!  On my last lap I hit a wet patch right before I took off of the lip to the big up hill triple.  This caused my bike to get swirly and case the jump.  I was able to finish the race, but did not return for the following motos.  A X-ray revealed a hair line fracture in my neck so I had to take some time off to allow that to properly heal.  Little did I know then that the race that day would be my last.  I unfortunately never returned back to the sport since that race.  By time I felt my body was fully healed without risking further injury, I was entering my senior year of high school and put my full focus into getting good grades and applying to college.  Once I went away to school I would only ride my bike a few times in the summer months when I was back home.

Currently:

Now in January 2014, I am close to finishing up my 7th year (8 years total) of my Doctor of Pharmacy program at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pa.  My schooling thus far is very demanding and leaves me no free time outside of school.  However, my last year of my program is clinical rotations only, which allows me a tremendous amount of free time compared to the first 7 years.  This will allow me the time to ride my bike after rotations and ride/race on the weekends.  I always felt like I have "unfinished business" since I abruptly stopped racing. I always said throughout the years that as soon as my schooling allows me to, I'm going to make a huge return to the sport. I am happy to finally say that the time to do so has come! My next step to get back riding is buying some new gear.  Because I am much older than I was when I was in high school, my current gear is either too small or too worn out to be used.  The one obstacle that I am currently facing is the financial support to get back into it.  As a student doctor, I have hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans.  This is a huge burden on me and I currently do not have the money to pay full price for the gear and parts I would need.  While trying to find a solution, I remembered about this site that I used back in 2004-2007 to get sponsors for my riding.  The only companies that I can remember from 7 years ago that offered me supports are: SixSixOne, Monster Army, No Fear, Spy Optics, Gearne, Alpinestars, Osiris shoes, Renthal, Steel Mx.  I know that at one time I had almost 17 sponsors.  My current goal on mxsponsor.com is to get any kind of support I can to get the gear I need to get back racing again!  I would greatly appreciate any support your company can offer me.  I have such a deep love for the sport and all I want to do is to be able to enjoy it again and represent my sponsors who helped me get racing again in every way I can!  Please help a financially stuck student doctor get back on his feet racing and in years to come I promise to always support your company as I continue to race and later on when my children race motocross.

Riding Goals

My goal for 2014 is to make a return back into the sport that I love and miss so much.  I will be racing the 250 C and Open C classes on my 2007 CRF 250r
