Personal History
My name is Jerid Hayford, i live in Kingman Arizona. Ever since i can rember i have been riding quads, dirt bikes, three wheelers, and drive cars. When I was 13 my parents got a divorce and my dad moved to arizona while me and my sister stayed with my mom. A year had past and my parents decided to get back together and move down to arizona. When we got down hear i started seeing tons of people riding dirt bikes and i asked my dad if i sould get one for my birthday, my bithday came around and i got a 125i pitbike for my first bike it wasnt long until i was jumping and wheeling that bike. So my dad decide to get my a real bike so he got me a 1992 kx 80 i couldnt believe the diference. About a year had past and i heard of a motocross track called "moto park" and i wanted to go see what it was about. We went there one saturday and i instintly fell in love with the sport and by the next weekend i started racing the track my very first race i got the holeshot and ended up getting 2nd place i was so excited, but things were getting bad in my house my parents split up and this time for good. so i decided to live with my dad. About 6 months had past and i had entered tons of races and finished well that my dad decided to move me up to a 1997 cr 250. it felt just like my 80 only bigger, within a week of getting that bike i entered in my first race with it and finished 3 overall. I had that bike for only 8 months before i started seeing every fast rider riding a 4-stroke my dad said "thats the next step a 4-stroke 250". 3 months later we went into a kawaski shop and there was a brand new 2009 rm-z 250f for 5,500 My dad bought it with a week. I raced my first race with it at Speedworld raceway and finished 6th overall not bad for my first race with the new bike. Now im entering in the 125, 250 novice classes every race i go and my dads the only one who supports me my mom doesnt even help with protective gear.
Riding Goals
- Some of my goals for the next year is to enter as many races as i can, and be able to lay the bike over so i can take corners way faster.
- I want to also get as many top 10 finishes as i can and no matter if i wreck or how far behind the leader i am, just finish the race.
- I also want to be able to whip the bike around and learn how to scrub speed off jumps so i can hit jumps as fast as i want and no matter what land on the backside
- I want to be able to hit a whoop section at full speed and not wreck in the middle of them
Competitive Highlights
One of my competitive highlights was on december 18th 2010 at boulder city motocross, i was in 5th place trying to get ahead of 4th and 3rd which were right in front of me, we were on the 3 or 4 lap and we were battling back and forth until finally i passed 4th place in the corner, and i was trying to catch 3rd place, me and him were coming into a corner, whcih is the corner me and him says 2ndplace down, we passed him. Me and him where both battling for 2nd then and on the 7th lap i made my move i tried taking him on the outside of a jump which didnt happen but it set me up for the inside of a corner which i knew he always took all i had to do was beat him to the corner first which i did and i made the pass in that corner and i never looked back that race i came in 2nd place but it was my best race because it was down to the last 2 laps and it was a close and good race.
