Personal History

Born: 03 October 1977
Residence: Leadville, Colorado

I moved out to Colorado from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, specifically to snowboard.  During my first summer here, I bought my first mountain bike, and I was hooked!  I started racing down hill and 4X/slalom and made it to the pro ranks during my last few years competing. Then got hooked on moto. In 2011 I got my first dirt bike and thats all I can think about. In 2012 the some riders and local officials in Lake County got together and got a track built. They applied for grant money and put in countless hours of work over many years to make it happen. About a year after opening I started volunteering some time to help maintain the track. After a few years of doing that I am now the manager and president of the track club. Mount Elbert Moto. The track has really been a hit. People are now coming from all over the state. The track is growing and becoming more popular every summer.

Riding Goals

My riding goals are to have fun riding and do a race here and there. With the amount of time I put into the track all with working a real 40 hr week job theres just not enough time to race.  We have a killer track and are working on expanding our property line for additional track and trail riding. My goals for this facility is to have a legit track for the riders in the surrounding mountain towns to ride without having to drive to the Denver area.Theres also the possibility of hosting races.

In 2017, Mount Elbert Moto and Leadville Moto Park partnered with professional rider Amy Kwak, to host “Girls Ride Toosday”, to help promote riding for women.  Additionally, in 2018, we teamed up with Ryan Hughes to host a private skills clinic, with Hughes himself training the riders. In the future, we hope to start an outreach program with the focus primarily on youth in the Leadville/Lake County area.  We are hoping to expand our camping to include more private sites and metal fire-rings.

In addition to physical expansion, we hope to start Winter Operations.  We are hoping to open a snowbike park, as early as late 2019/early 2020.  X-Game medalist Brock Hoyer has trained in our facility before competing in Aspen, CO for the past 3 years.  We hope to acquire a snowcat to make this happen.

Competitive Highlights

We are fortunate to have such a dedicated volunteer group of five guys that work on the track after their regular full-time jobs.  These guys collectively put in an unbelievable amount of hours to maintain the park to their standards.  When we receive donated cash, product, or discounts, it is for the upkeep of the track, for the crew, for raffles and for our members.  We also give credit to you, our sponsor, for making it happen.
We have many ideas to promote our sponsors (logos on custom graphics, banners, feature names, and many, many more.  Let us know how you’d like to partner with us!
