Personal History
I am engineering living and working in the Philadelphia area. I have been active in the East Coast Enduro Series for over thirty years. I began my career in enduros helping my father's motorcyle club, the Valley Forge Trail Riders, put on the Moonshine Enduro when I was just six years old. When I turned 16 I started racing enduros and hare scrambles and haven't stopped since. In my twenties I became more involved with my enduro club, becoming president for seven years and also being the trail boss for over ten Enduros. I have semi-retired from running the club but still love to cut trail and help put on our annual events.
Riding Goals
My main goal in racing today is to have as much fun as possible while striving to compete at a higher level than I did when I was in my twenties. I plan on competing in the A senior class in the ECEA enduro series and feel I have a good chance of winning the overall class title this year.
Aside from local enduros and hare scrambles I try to do several one off races each year. Last year I rode a local extreme event and was part of a 4 man team at a 24 hour race in New York State.
My other major goal is to start my two year old daughter in the world of motorcycles. She has made great progress on her strider bike and has shown interest in starting on her pedal bike. I have already procured permission from her mother to start her on her PW50 as soon as she can ride a pedal bike.
Competitive Highlights
The two biggest races of my life have been when I won the overall at two East Coast Enduros. The first was in 2000 and the second was in 2011, just a few weeks before my 40th birthday. That was definitely a huge highlight of my riding career and the finish that qualified me to be a AA rider for 2012.
In 2011 I won the ECEA A-Vet Class in my last year before I became a senior rider. In 2012 my biggest highlight was winning the A senior class at the National Enduro in Crossfork, PA by just 5 seconds over my brother.
The quantity of races I can get to has diminished in the past few years due to family and work travel commitments but I still manage to race 10-15 times a year and have stayed competitive in the A Senior and the overall results at local enduros and hare scrambles.
