Mammoth Mountain East....they call it The Beast. Held once a year on the ski slopes of Paoli, Indiana, Mammoth Mountain East is quickly gaining a well-deserved reputation as a brutally rough test of rider and machine.

Held over two days in late October, the course is a 2 & 1/2 mile, natural terrain test of pain tolerance. Virtually no prep work is done to the 'track'...it is simply disced out of the hillside, staked with marker ribbon and opened for riding. The whole of the course consists of rollers, braking and acceleration bumps, sawdust sections and simple nastiness.

Despite these tough conditions, Jamie Fulcher went 13-7 for an overall 8 several weeks ago in the Open Beginner class. In a field of 34 riders, Fulcher put on a charge in the 2nd moto, narrowly missing the 5th, 6th and 7th place riders at the finish line.

On this weekend in 2007, Jamie Fulcher truly Tamed the Beast.
