A new series began this past weekend in the Houston area. Round 1 of the Eagle Sports Main Event Series by Pirelli began at 290 Cycle World on July 12th, 2008. This series is unlike any other in the fact that they are using a short 3 lap moto as a qualifier for gate pick, and only those finishing in the top three of this moto can earn bonus points for the main event. The main event is a 5 lap moto and counts as your overall finish. I ran in the Super Mini 9-15 for the first time, and man are those bikes fast compared to my stock 2007 Honda CR85R. They include the Honda CRF150R in this class also. I had a great start and was right up front with the leaders until their additional power just let them take off. I finished 21st out of 30, but I had a great time because I know I rode good. I also ran in the 85cc 7-11 class, and had a much better outing in that class. I was about a tire length away from pulling the holeshot, and I just kept it pinned the entire track. I hit all the jumps great and held on for 6th place out of 14. With four more rounds in the series, I hope to advance my overall position and be in the top five at the end of the series. It will be tough, but I am going to give it my all. June 13th - 15th brought the Loretta Lynn's South Central Youth Regional Qualifer to Freestone County Raceway in Wortham, TX. I ran in the 85cc 9-11 Stock Class, and faired well. I had a mechanical in moto 1 on Saturday with a fouled spark plug on the starting line, and did not make the gate drop. Motos 2 and 3 on Sunday were great though. I could not believe how fast the kids were in my class. I have to give them credit for their race. At the end of the three moto format, I ended up 22nd out of 40. It was a good experience, and I had a great time. Since this is my first year to make it to the Regional level, and after only six months of being on an 85, I am very happy with my performance. I know what to expect next year, and plan on working very hard to do better. This weekend I raced in the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship Amateur Day Race. It was held at Freestone County Raceway in Wortham, Texas, and was the kickoff for Round 3 of the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship. The track was really rough and I did not do as well as I hoped, finishing 15th overall in the 85cc 7-11 Open Class. It was extremely hot and the wind was so bad it was hard to jump some of the jumps. The track was watered just before my first moto, which made it very muddy in some spots and my goggles got covered with mud making it difficult to see. I had a better second moto, but still not what I needed. I give all the other riders credit, they were on the gas for sure!
I also raced the BSM/Killer Motorsports 50's Challenge Pit Bike National in the Young Guns 10 Years and Under Class. That was a blast!! I was on my bone stock Honda CRF80F, and raced against several heavily modified 110's and other full blown race pit bikes. I had a bad start in moto one and finished 7th, but came back strong in moto two with a great start and finished 3rd, which placed me 5th for the overall. I really like the pit bike races and hope to do more in the future.

This past weekend I attended the 5 Magics MX School with instructor Larry Morton. The two day class was held at Freestone County Raceway in Wortham, Texas, on the National Track. It was a great class and I learned alot about bike control, body positioning, diet and exercise, and attitude that will help me in the future. The weather was great all weekend, but it was very hot. With the South Central Loretta Lynn's Youth Regional coming up in a couple of weeks, I want to get as much time on that track as possible. We plan on going back next weekend for the Transworld Motocross Magazine Dirt Days event, and I will have two more days of practice on the track. Then the following weekend, I will be racing in the Amatuer Day Race before the Outdoor National which will give me some actual race experience on the track. Finally, the Youth Regional will be held on the weekend of June 13th, and I hope to do well for my sponsors. Thanks to them, I am able to compete in some of these larger races. Wish me luck!!!!

This past weekend, I qualified for the Loretta Lynn's South Central Youth Regional in the 85cc 9-11 Stock class. The Area Qualifier was at Three Palms Extreme Sports Park in Conroe, TX., and the Youth Regional will be held at Freestone County Raceway in Freestone, TX. I have been practicing as much as possible, and my hard work paid off. There were some really fast riders at the area qualifier like Taylor Witt, Stone Edler, Andrew Pierce, Javier Cantu, and Andrew Segovia to name a few. I had a 2nd lap front tire washout in moto 1 which caused me to go down and get lapped, but my 2nd moto was really good. I felt good all day, and rode my best. I know the competition will be even stronger at the Regional, so I am going to train even more. Even if I don't make it to the National, I want to walk away from the Regional knowing I did everything I could. I want to thank God for keeping me safe, all my sponsors for their help, and my mom and dad for everything they do for me.

The series ended with a great day of racing yesterday!!! I placed 7th in the race and secured a top 5 spot in the overall series points. The awards banquet will be held next Saturday in Houston, and I will be there to collect my hardware and contingencies. This was a really fun series, but now it is time to start training hard for the Loretta Lynn qualifier at my home track on April 27th. Today would have been the last round of the Houston Holeshot Championship Series, but a rainout of Round 5 the day after the Houston SX forced a late finish date. We will wrap up the series next weekend at Highlands MX Park. I am currently in 5th place in the series overall points and should finish no worse than that, even if I miss the last round. I plan on doing my best at Highlands, and try to advance in the points. I have to thank my trainer, Kyle Williams, for working with me so much over the last few weeks. I also want to thank my mom and dad for making sure that I have the best equipment and for everything they do for me. My sponsors are really helping alot also. Without them, my racing may not be possible. Most of all, thanks to God for keeping me safe!!!

I was a top 10 finalist for the Extreme EMS Sportsman Sponsorship Award. We recently sold my 2008 Kawasaki KX85, and bought a brand new 2007 Honda CR85R. This bike is so much faster than my Kawasaki was!!! I like it better because it is a little bit shorter and narrower, and it is easier for me to handle than the Kawasaki. I look forward to a great year on my new Honda!! This past weekend, I made my 85cc debut in Round 1 of The Houston Holeshot Championship Series at 290 MX. I had so much fun. I was a bit nervous since this was my first race on my 85, and my first race back since my crash, but my dad said I did awesome. The track was really muddy that morning, so I skipped practice since I had been riding that track early in the week and had it memorized. The track came around really good, and I had no problems with the lines, even though there were really deep ruts. I had a 9/7 finish for 8th overall out of 12 bikes. I told my dad to sell my 65's, because I want to race my 85 only. I like my 85 so much more, and plan to race every round of this series in hopes of a top 5 overall finish.

I have been riding as much as possible since I got cleared by my doctor. I really missed riding, and it feels good to be back on my bikes. I am planning on racing The Houston Holeshot Championship Series this winter. I am really looking forward to seeing all my track friends again, and I hoppe to do well in the series. I finally got my doctor's release, and I can resume all regular activities. I am going to work out for a week or so before riding, but then I'm back on my bikes. I have changed my number to 805, since we had to change it for Ponca. I plan on running the Houston Winter Series that starts in December. I will use it as a tune-up for next season. Thanks to all my sponsors for their support, and I look forward to a great 2008!!!

This past weekend at the 2nd round of the Triple Crown Series at Three Palms Extreme Sports Park, I had a bad crash in the whoops section during the first moto. My bike swapped out on me as I entered the whoops, and it got really ugly from there. I got my first DNF in a moto because I could not finish. I did race my second moto, but I was hurt too bad to do well and ended up 14th overall. I really began to hurt later that day, and we went to the ER where they did a chest x-ray, CT, and ultrasound and discovered a badly bruised lung and diaphragm, and a hemmorage on my adrenal gland. No broken bones, but I was in the hospital all weekend. I have gone back to school, but I can't have any physical activity for at least one month. I go back for another x-ray, CT, and ultrasound in a few weeks, and if everything has healed properly I will not need surgery and can resume my normal activities. I can't wait to get back on my bikes, and really want to race against all my friends again!!!

Well, I don't have my modified 2007 KLX110 anymore, or my 2006 KX 65. My dad bought me a new 2007 KX65, and a new 2008 KX85 though. I can't wait to get them. Now that school has started, I only get to ride a couple of hours in the evening during the week, but we are at the track as much as possible on the weekend. I should get my new bikes next week, and I am very excited.

I had some really bad luck at this, my first National race. I went down in practice and bruised my ribs. The next day, it was really hot in moto 1, but I got a descent start after being the 27th gate pick and was half pack through the first turn. I held my position for two laps at about 20th, but the heat got to me and I faded to last. It felt like I could not breathe. I had the last gate pick in moto 2, and was on the far outside, but I managed to be at about half pack again and running good. I felt much better, and had plenty of energy. I thought I could get a top 15 finish, but then bad luck struck again. They watered a turn between laps, and when I went through the turn that was dry the lap before, I washed out in it sending my bike on top of me and I took a footpeg to the femur. Track safety had to get it off of me, and I got it cranked and finished the race, but it was too late. I finished 27th in moto 2, which put last in my division overall. I learned alot about National races, and I know I need to train even harder now for the next one.

Well, after a rainout at round 4 of qualifiers at Highlands Motocross Park, they held the last two rounds this past weekend at Austin Del Valle. We did not have to race either one, but we raced Saturday anyway. It was really hot, and I was disappointed with my 7-7 finishes for 7th overall. I ended up 7th in the points standings for the qualifier series, and will be at Ponca City later this month. I am going to try to practice alot before we go, if the rain ever goes away. This is my first National race, and I am very excited to be going. I want to thank God, my Mom and Dad, and all my sponsors.

After my second Ponca City Grand National Qualifier, I am ready for the last two. This past weekend was the longest day at the races I have had since I started racing. We arived at Village Creek Motocross Park in Fort Worth, Texas at 6:30 A.M. on Saturday morning, and we pulled out of the parking lot that night at 8:14 P.M. My moto was 25th of 27. It was a really long day, but I had a decent 3-5 finish, for 4th overall on a very difficult track with multiple blind elevation changes. Unfortunately, our good weekend was overshadowed by the loss of a fellow racer. Justin Taylor lost his life while racing at Village Creek Motocross Park on June 9, 2007. Though we did not know him, our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, and may God welcome Justin into The Devine Kingdom where His peace will rein forever.

We attended the 2007 American Suzuki Memorial Day Classic Pro/Am this past weekend at Three Palms Extreme Sports Park. Our Ponca Qualifier was cancelled due to rain. Friday night the track was the best I have ever seen it. The prep was beautiful, and with little to no rain in the forecast, I was looking forward to a good finish. Practice went well, but then the rain started rolling in. My class was the tenth moto, and by then the rain had made the track very slick and deep. I went down with several other bikes, and had a difficult time getting my bike started, leaving me in last place by mid moto. I was able to pass three riders and salvage 9th in moto one. I regrouped and was intent on riding hard in moto two. The rain was starting to subside, and I thought the track might dry a bit. One moto before I headed to the gates, the bottom fell out of the sky, and it rained like I had never seen, and continued until the gate drop of my moto. They dropped the number of laps from 5 to 1, but we could barely see the first turn due to the rain. Over half of the class pulled out. One of the dads said that we should not race and he pulled his son off the gate, at that point there was only one rider left at the gate. With everyone back at their trailers, including me, the dad that said we should not race pulled his son back to the gate and let him race along with two others that came back. That made the class count 4 then. My dad said that the AMA official should never have let the race run, but he also said that we got hoodwinked at the gate. I did not know what he meant until he explained it to me, but now I agree. We got hoodwinked at the gate by the dad that was telling everyone not to race. This was the first DNS I have ever had, and I don't like it. I won't ever leave the gate again.

On March 10, 2007, I had my first race on my new 2006 Kawasaki KX65. It was a night race at Skeeter MX Park, their annual March Madness Race. I placed 3rd in moto 1, and 4th in moto 2 for 4th overall. I had a great start in the first moto, but in the second moto I forgot to put my bike into gear before the gate drop, so I had to play catch-up. I was really mad at myself, but I kept my composure, rode as hard as I could, made some passes, and made up ground with my speed in the flat sections. I came off the track really mad because I know with a good start, I could have done better. My dad was laughing because he asked me twice before the gate drop if I had it in gear. He saw that there was no tension on the chain. He just told me to use this as a learning experience, and said that I rode really good. After it was all over and I calmed down, I realized it was my first race, I made a small mistake, I did the best I could to make up for it, and I still got a trophy with a respectable finish. I will not make that mistake again though. The photo below was taken that night and is also in my image gallery. I will post more from future races. SEE YOU AT THE RACES!!!

With one round of qualifying for the NMA Ponca City Grand National Championship under my belt, I am training hard for my quest to go to Oklahoma. Although we missed the first round of the qualifying series due to other commitments, we are in a position to make all the remaining dates. With my 5th place finish in the last round riding on a track I have never seen before, I am confident about my chances. SEE YOU ALL IN PONCA CITY, OKLAHOMA.

I have added series and individual race results for the last year. I am now racing on my new Kawasaki KX65 and KLX110 full time. No more 50's for me. Check out the two pictures I added to my profile. One is of me on my 50 from last year, and the other is of me on my KLX110 from last year. I will have some pictures soon of me on my KX65. I have only raced it twice so far.
