Rider Updates

Jun 3 2018

Got out on my self-rebuilt 2016 Ktm 250sxf. Getting more comfortable on the four stroke because I have my past race bike, rebuilt and refreshed. She's too much for me, plus I like the feel of the newer bike better. Rode quite a bit bouncing back and forth between bikes. Definitely looking forward to riding more, and possibly going to some local tracks again soon.

Birthday Ride! Second Ride of 2017! "New-To-Me" First ride at Cato Mx! Feeling great. Cold Morning, but that only left room for the sun to warm things up! Track looks great, bike is running great; or so it seemed, as I sat, warming my bike up in the staging area before my first practice run around the new track. Nerves are creeping as the first half of the huge Novice group is released, waiting the first rider to pass the halfway mark on the track before those of us that were held back, get our chance to spin some dirt. Finally, clicking my trusty 2009 KTM 250sx two stroke machine, into 1st gear. Approaching the exit of the first turn, clicking 2nd, then 3rd down the straight. Fast forward to the end of the first lap; Clicking back to 3rd out of the corner, but! -Total Loss of Power-. After a day of confusion, finally pointing fingers at the real problem; A blown base gasket. Under further investigation, cracked and chipped reeds were found.

Ventured back to NY, and off to Frozen Ocean MX for the first race of the year, Signed up with a new, faster,  district and a new, faster, class. Started off as a great day. Finally back on the bike. Practice went well, even though I was running in the back of the faster class. When my first Moto came around, I lined up alongside the other 33 riders on the almost packed gate line. Definitely did not get a good start. First three laps were all about staying with the group and getting comfortable again. Last lap, I made a pass or two, then tipped over in a corner, and didn't have the strength to restart my bike (insert sarcastic and embarrassment filled chuckle). Moto two, definitely go as planned. Tried making a silly repair on my bike and ended up snapping the bolt to my kickstart lever. Oops. It started raining, pretty bad. One thing on my mind, Stay UP. Three laps in, I lost my front end, tried to catch myself, but my foot slipped in the mud. Bike came down, I landed on the bike, breaking my shifter and eating some splines off my shift shaft. So, double DNF was how I started off my 2017 racing season.

Racing once again at Hogback Hill MX. it was quite the unchilling day, and not just because it was over 90 degrees out! Now, Hogback Hill is known for always being overwatered, but with the extreme heat the track was pretty nice all day. Practice went swell, Moto 1 was an average moto: bad start worked my way up to fourth, got passed on the second to last lap, finished 5th. Moto 2, was quite the opposite of average. It started off with a bad start, but I didn't make my way through the pack very quickly. Coming into the back section, the rider in front of me crashed, then I might have ran him over, and this led to a medium sized pile up with around 7 other riders. Surprisingly, I did finish the moto, even though I was in a bit of pain and my bike was in bit of a bent condition. I finished in about 20th place out of 24th people. My overall was 13th place.

I did post Moto 2 on YouTube, and it can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkP6Qy2RU6E

Back to Pavilion for the Father's Day race weekend! Raced Sunday, in the over watered conditions. Practice went bad, almost got bucked off twice. Moto one was a muddy mess, starting a horrible start, I couldn't see a thing because I don't have goggles with tear-off capabilities (the little posts on the lens), and some how worked my way up to 4th position. Moto two came with a better start. Moto two also came with an entire moto long battle for 3rd. I made a pass in a corner for third, but my brake system could probably use a little cleaning. I couldn't stop going down the hill fast enough, and missed the inside rut. he capitalized upon my mistake and passed me back. I went 4-4 and ended up 3rd overall due to the placement of the rider whom had third first moto, and the other rider who had third second moto.

Race at Frozen Ocean Mx, it was my first race on a fresh top end. Track was a bit slick in practice, but quality increased as the day went on. First moto, was pretty good, didn't have the start I wanted, ended up 5th. Moto two, really brought a bad start. While fighting for positions trying to make my way up, I was about to get into 7th place, but the rider in 7th had fallen, and I ended up landing on his bike, and being catapulted towards him. Got up and went to go back to racing and my chain had fallen off upon impact with his foot peg. I tried to throw the chain back on as fast as I could, but foolishly forgot to put the bike in neutral. Rapidly loosing positions, I got it on with some help of a flagger, and finished right after the leaders, Ended up going 5th and 15th, luckily getting 11th overall.

May 29 2016

I raced at Pavilion MX again. I had a really bad start in the first moto (19th), but worked my butt of all the way to 5th. In the second moto, I had a really good start (6th), made a pass in the second corner, and another in the next corner. Working around the first lap in 4th, I get onto the second lap and the rider in third had fallen. Gingerly making my way into third, and noting that I am exactly where I needed to be, points-wise. One triple, than one corner to go before the white flag, I took the wrong rut to protect my inside, and cased the double in the triple. I have bad chain, sprockets, and swing arm bearings, and my chain wrapped up around the front sprocket, blowing away my second moto. I finished the day with a 15th overall from a 5th and a DNS. Luckily, I remain third in points.

May 21 2016

At Palmyra MX, a local track for me, there was a special weekend. Saturday, was the open practice day, with a special one moto format after practice, and Sunday had a special race called the XO, a cross between woods riding and motocross.  I did the Saturday practice and the one moto. I had an issue going over the triple, where when i doubled it, my chain wrapped up around my front sprocket. After ruining both of my sprockets, my chain and my wheel bearings, my dad bought a new chain and said "screw it, we are here lets just race." I raced and finished 6th.

May 1 2016

Race at Area 51. It was very muddy. Took 4th in moto 1 without being able to see anything. Fell in 4th place on the first lap of moto 2. I took my goggles off and got a face full of roost, but I didn't stop and carried out of 5th into 4th again and took up my battle again. On the second to last lap, coming to the white flag, the rider in third place fell in the last corner. I passed him for third and ended 3rd that moto and 3rd overall.

Apr 24 2016

Again, riding at Pavilion MX. I still don't know this track and that really showed. I ended 8th in both motos.

Apr 17 2016

Season Opener at Frozen Ocean MX Park. I almost had the holeshot and ended up with a 4th overall first moto. At the beginning of second moto, my tire spun on the concrete so i did not get the start I wanted. Out of 21 people, I worked passed 17 of them to end moto 2 with another 4th place. I ended the night in 4th overall, and I now hold 4th in points.

Oct 18 2015

I raced at Pavillion MX (for the first time) in the snow (another first for me) and slowly and coldly rode to a 10th overall. Sadly I wanted to do way better, but I'm not a good rider and it was a new track to me and a new experience racing in the snow. Sadly, my bike didn't really perform as nicely as what I wish it would have either. I have gained 8 more points(9th overall now!) from my terrible ride, but I did what I could.

Sep 27 2015

I raced Sick Bros MX and got a 4th overall.
