Personal History

I just turned 17 years old and am an 11th grade student way up north in MN. I work very hard at school and have been an A student so far in both elementary and high school.  I am a very active and busy kid. I play team sports that are school related, as I love the competition and team work with my school friends. My favorite sport is riding and racing dirtbikes. I started very young and plan on riding and racing my entire life. Even though I am very busy, there's always time for practicing and racing motocross!

My adventure on wheels actually started when I was nine months old. I decided to take my walker with wheels down our basement steps (12 steps). I mastered the ride and went all the way down without a railing on the side of the steps, unfortunately I hit the cement at the bottom and ended up with my first bruises and a huge black eye! Seriously, I started watching lawn mower races on tv at age two and my parents started to tape them for me. I would watch them all the time (no Barney for me). I learned how to ride my little tiny bicycle without training wheels when I was 2 1/2 years old. I also had a battery operated 4-wheeler that I would ride all over the yard...my parents would always catch me standing up while I was riding it. When I was 3 1/2 my brother and I got our first dirtbikes. I got a brand new Suzuki JR 50. When we picked it up from the dealership, my dad took it out of the truck and I jumped on and rode it all over the Holiday Inn parking lot. Then when we got home, I was flying all over the yard. Within a day, my dad removed the restrictor plate. When I turned four, I then got my first KTM Pro Jr and started racing. I have been racing full time since and 2013 will be my 14th season of racing motocross. I also spent five years racing snowmobiles and won many points championships. The cross over of snowmobiles really helped my mx season.

I love the competition of racing mx. When I was born, my parents named me after my uncle, who had passed away in the mid 70's in a motorcycle accident (street bike). My grandma has always said that my uncle is an angel watching over me while I am riding and racing my dirtbikes. I was also inspired by my neighbor who has grown up racing and riding.

My most embarrassing moment was:

When I was seven years old racing 50's, I was way ahead of the other riders at the Grygla MX track and on my last lap of the race. On the landing of a big jump, my chain broke. I didn't have too far to go to get to the finish line which happened to be on a small jump. My mom and my friend's mom were running beside me on the track telling me "to push the bike as fast as I could". I was pushing and running with my little 50, but I could hear the other bikes coming up behind me. I got to the finish line, but couldn't push hard enough to get the whole bike up and over the jump. Two other bikes went up and over to take the checkered and I finally pushed hard enough to make it over the jump for third place. The broken chain was still hanging on my bike and I picked it up in my hand. My uncle happened to be video taping me and got the whole thing on tape! My parents thought it was so cute....I sure didn't!

Why I like this sport:

I love riding and racing, as it so exciting and fun. Nothing compares to mx racing. It is a very competitive and aggressive sport and requires a lot of hard work, training and family commitment. I like seeing my racing friends at the races and hanging out in the pits together. Racing has helped me develop good sportsmanship and has taught me respect for others. I love to ride, race and the great feeling of accomplishment taking the checkered and getting a win! It is a great time to spend quality time with my friends and family. I love to compete against others and try improve each and every race.

My style:

I have developed over the years into an aggressive rider. I am always on the throttle and have been told by many that I am very smooth. I have learned how to look ahead and know what and where I need to make my moves on the track to get past other riders. I like to race clean, but aggressive and will put a block pass on anyone to get around them! I love racing against other fast riders and love the challenge of full gates with 40 other riders!

Besides motocross, I was also a snowmobile racer for five years (points champion many times).  Racing is my favorite thing to do. Sportsmanship is very important to me as I am representing the small town of Roseau, MN and the “Home of Polaris Industries”.  During the winter time, I enjoy riding snowmobiles and plan on starting a weight lifting program. I am also very active in church and Sunday School.  I'm also having a fun time with team sports...football (I'm a quarterback), basketball (I'm a point guard) and baseball (I'm a pitcher)....I'm one busy kid, but I always have time for riding and racing with my busy schedule!!!!!

Riding Goals

My goals for the 2013 race season are to always push myself to ride my very best. I hope to place consistently in the top three of every race I enter. I plan to race a very extensive schedule with race circuits through out MN and ND, along with trying to qualify for Loretta Lynn’s National Amateur Championships. Along with racing and practicing as much as possible, I will work hard to maintain my good grades in school. I will add value to your company because I have a very positive attitude towards racing and everything that I do. I always remember our family motto of winning without bragging and losing without making excuses!  I am trying very hard to better myself and become the best rider I can be. Along with this positive attitude, promoting my sponsors is one of my top priorities. I know that good sportsmanship includes how I present myself off the track just as importantly as how I present myself on the track. If you choose to sponsor me for the 2013 season, I promise to promote your product in a very professional manner. I will not let you down!
