Personal History
I am a 51 year old Firefighter with the City of Olympia Fire Department.
I have always loved our sport, from the first time a friend let me ride his IT. It was a beast, scary fast for me, and rattled like 20 year old milk truck going down a 70 year old dirt road, but, it got me hooked. Ever since I has always wanted to ride and race motorcycles, with motocross being my main point of attack.
I worked pretty hard at it too. From 1995 until late 2001 I covered 7 states, 18 series, and even trekked out to Branson for the US AM National.
9/11 changed all that for me though, and I felt that my time and efforts were needed in the War on Terror. I once again enlisted in the US Army as a Medic and served in the Iraqi area on two different tours of duty. The down side, becides being away from my friends and family, was that my racing had to take a back seat to my training / work. Little did I know how far back that seat would be.
That all changed in 2007 when I saw a local dealer selling brand new 2006 Kawasaki KX450Fs for $5000.00 out the door. I couldn't pass it up, and after months of pounding laps, finding new places for blisters, and hooking two of my best friends into racing again. I'm been hard at work since, regaining speed and conditioning and broadening my area of riding. I now juggle MOTO with offroad, and its amazing how each complements the other. I have done very well in the last few years, despite a broken Humerus, separated shoulder and now detached tendon in my thumb. I have captured wins both solo and as a member of a team at numerous large events. I love the variety of racing I am able to attend, and looking to expand that even more for the upcoming year. I hope I am able to share these amazing moments with great companies and people our sport has to offer.
Riding Goals
I will be focusing on the Desert 100 in Odessa,WA, the OMRA Series, Team Tortoise / NORCS Series, PAC West Series, the Washougal AM. National and attempting to qualify for Loretta Lynn's National ( a life long goal to attend after qualifying on 2 other occasions ). I will be racing in the 30+B, 40+B and 450 B classes in motocross and 50+ Expert in Off-Road. I am also interested in the World Vet Nationals at Glen Helen, but, will need some logistical support to attend this event.
I have been doing a lot of offroad racing the last few years, including the Desert 100 in Odessa, WA (the largest single race in the US with over 1000 racers starting at the same time), the 24 Hours of Starvation Ridge (Largest 24 hour event in the US), the Virginia City Grand Prix, Team Tortoise Mega Crown (local version of WORCS) and the NMA Offroad Series.
