Personal History

My name is Hunter Shaut, I'm 6 years old. I started riding at 3 and began racing at 4. I learned to ride on a pw50 and when I was ready, moved up to a KTM Mini Adventure to begin my racing career. My first season, in the oil injected class, was successful with many wins and a track championship at Thunder Ridge MX Park. Towards the end of the season my dad moved to the 50cc 4-6 stock class where I rode a KTM sx junior. I finished the season on the junior, it was a big jump, and was clear I had a lot of work to do. I spent the off season practicing indoors and when spring came I was back at it. I finished well in my district races and went undefeated for 6 weeks in the Royal Mountain Supercross Series untill an injury took me out for 8 weeks. It was a long 8 weeks and when I returned was atop a new Cobra CX50Jr. I ended up finishing the season strong, coming in 4th overall in the CNYMRA District 3 points series. I closed my 2007 season with a win at the Toyota AMA Arenacross evnt in Albany and am looking forward to 2008. When I,m not practicing or riding my pitbike I like to skateboard and play basketball. Oh yeah, I'm also a Guitar Hero junky. Molst of all, I love going to all the different race tracks with my family, racing, and hanging out with my friends at the track.

Riding Goals

My main goal is to qualify for Loretta Lynn's and get ranked nationally. I know that's a big goal and will take a lot of hard work. I also hope to stay healthy and finish well in my district series as well as the 2 supercross series I compete in throughout the summer.

Competitive Highlights

The most exciting race for me was the first race after coming off my 8 week injury this year. The doctor released me on a Wednesday and I was off to Twister Valley Sports Complex that same Friday to compete in a supercross event. I was really nervous knowing I had'nt been a bike in 2 months and knowing the guys had been riding and racing the whole time. When the gate dropprd it all came back and I went 1-1. My whole family was there and we were all very excited. My other favorite moment was winning the main event in the Toyota AMA Arencross Event in Albany this past November. I was'nt sure how I would stack up against riders from other districts as well as other states. It quickly became obvious to me arenacross was totally different, but by using some moves in the corners I learned by watching the pros the night before, I was able to take the win. All in all, 2007, despite the 2 month injury, was a good season finishing 4th in the Royal Mountain Supercross Series and 4th in the CNYMRA District 3 points series.
