Rider Updates
Dec 19 2013
Finally, I built my new road bike. This last weekend I rode 33 miles over 2.5 hours and climbed approximately 3000 feet in elevation! It felt amazing to be back on two wheels. The next day I followed this up with a 12 mile ride around the bay with my wife. The legs are still there even after being off the bike for 4+ months. It will take very little time to reach my optimal weight goal. At the end of January, I plan on riding my mx bike for the first

Last weekend, I drove out to Glen Helen bright and early with the intent of putting in a serious practice session. CALVT MX & AHRMA were holding a race and the REM track was closed. The temps were getting very warm and my options were limited as to other comparable tracks and I needed to practice for this weekends upcoming OTHG South National. Decided to race the open support 4 stroke class and for some psychotic reason, I signed up for the 30 minute Ironman. As it turns out, I felt pretty good that day, had excellent starts and almost holeshot the ironman. Some elder demon on a vintage '80's Yamaha 500 2 smoker beat me around the Talladega and a few other younger guys got by me but I held on to at least win the Novice class. In the open support, I finished 3rd amongst the Novices. I am definitely feeling better on the new bike.

This last weekend, I celebrated getting back on the bike by picking up the 2012.5 KTM Factory Replica or "Dungey Bike". Although my results at the Bay National were not impressive by any means, my only expectation was to go out, having only had 1 day on the new bike and ride safely at about 70-75% effort and gauge where the rest of the guys are at this late in the season. It was evident that I have a lot of work to do over the next couple of weeks; not only my own physical riding/race shape but also dialing in the bike. Loved the old bike but this bike is 10X better for motocross and I can now actually attack the inside ruts whereas before, I was a wide sweeper only. Steering this bike compared to the old bike would be comparing a U boat to an aircraft carrier. Over the next couple of months, I plan on utilizing finally some of my sponsorship connections and hopefully picking up some new sponsors for the upcoming season. My expectations for this year fell way short due to a couple of injuries sustained at the start of a couple of races (ex. Mammoth) where I was taken out by other riders. On both occasions, I had nearly pulled a holeshot which was unfortunate. Time to start practicing starts like Mik
