Personal History

I have been an athlete my entire life and have competed at a high level in various action sports. I am determined to continue pursuing a sporting life for as long as possible.

After years of competing in downhill/enduro mountain bike racing at the CAT 1 level, I transitioned to motocross racing at the age of 41 (yes, 41 hahaha). I have worked hard to advance my skill set and am now competing at the Vet A level. I participate in various motocross series and events, including WORCS, NGPC, UMORA, UT state championships, and the Dubya World Vet Championships.

However, I make my most substantial and differentiated contribution to the sport of motocross and representation of sponsors by applying my professional skill set (I've owned a digital marketing agency for almost 20 years) to support the non-profit motocross club and track, Ogden Cycle Association (OCA), in Ogden, UT. I started supporting this organization in 2018 with the objective of moving its entire member/guest management, payment system, and general marketing collateral to digital infrastructure. Since deploying this new website and custom applications, we have grown membership substantially, shifted the cash flow curve months ahead of the previous scenario, and reduced the admin burden related to membership management by over 70% (for real).

Each year the board of directors and I work to define a set of new projects focused on driving customer experience, reducing admin overhead, and growing revenue.

For the 2022 season, my team and I built and deployed a new admin application to track and manage OCA's "working member" volunteer hour contributions. This program allows members to offset the cost of their family's membership by working on various projects at the facility. It is a great member benefit and makes riding motocross regularly more financially viable for many families. However, reconciling the hours worked on various projects to each member has significantly burdened the board of directors. This new system automates many of the accounting and record-keeping tasks associated with the process, freeing up the board's time to focus on initiatives that improve the overall rider experience and drive membership growth.

The other major project for '22 was implementing live video feeds from cellular network-connected webcams stationed around the track. These feeds are embedded into the website and allow any interested party to see the track's current grooming and weather conditions from their computer or phone. To my knowledge, we are one of the only motocross tracks in the western U.S. with this capability on its website.

During 2023, we focused on video and image asset collection that we will use to promote club memberships and corporate partnerships. Those assets are scheduled to deploy in Q4, and we plan to leverage them specifically in pursuit of a title sponsor for a new youth race series.

My other sponsors are:

  • Fly Racing/WPS
  • 100%
  • Mobius
  • Dunlop
  • Ride Engineering
