Personal History
I started motocross at the age of 5.. I'm now 39! And still riding.. My father was a good international Belgian rider during the 70's..
Doesn't matter how i ride before, that's behind me! Modern motocross don't interest me anymore.. Too much money, too much jealousy, too much pilots who think they're the new "Eli Tomac" or "Stephan Everts" but in facts are just assholes!
After a huge knee injury in 2011,while i was leading the race AND 2 championships (Belgian FAM and my federation's) i had time to think about how i like motocross!? In a whellchait or on my bike!? ...i choosed the second option and searched for a solution to ride more "safely" and, most important, find back the fun i had when i was youger!!! I found it in "vintage motocross"
In "riding types" i had to choose the modern bike i'm keeping for training and sometimes using for races when the tracks are cool. A crf 450 2012. But it's not my race bike!
My real race bike is a 1976 Maico 400cc!! I prepared it to ride in any conditions (in Belgium, tracks are really roughs!!) of the Belgian and European vintage chapionships... and i use it sometimes in modern races to show to young riders what a "trany" can do if the pilot isn't too bad! ;) :) When i get the holeshot (i always been a good starter and my Maico is a bullet..) they're going crazy!! :D
I'm sponsored since 2 years by "Racetech suspensions" from USA,they provide me top pieces for our vintage forks!
My father and me also provide a "vintage restoration and preparation service" in Belgium,so we're in contact with many pilots from all around Europe!! Anywhere we go we always find time to talk and laugh with our friends....because in vintage motocross we're all friends! We all (most of ;) ) riding for race and results on the track...but after the race there's a really nice feeling of friendship!! That's how motocross should be!!!
Riding Goals
Win races until i will be 80 years old!! :D
Have fun!!
Competitive Highlights
That's behind me,we don't care anymore! ;) I leave it to "Jeremy Mc Grath"!!! He got some real "Competitive highlights"!!! We're all "clowns" beside him ;)
