Personal History
My name is Gavin Fortner and I am 5 years old. I was born 2 months premature so i learned how to fight for what i wanted from day 1. I asked for a dirtbike just before i turned 4 years old. My parents just laughed and told me that i needed to learn to ride a bicycle with no training wheels before we took that step. So yea, that took all of 2 hours... On my 4th Birthday i walked into the garage to find the most beautiful Suzuki JR50 ever. I spent that entire afternoon falling over, running into trees, almost killing the dog, etc. From that day forward I can't stand to go a day without riding.
After a few races at my home track (Scrub n' Dirt in Monroe Ga) my skill level finally surpassed what that old JR 50 could handle. So mom and dad scrounged up all the money they could and found me a 2004 KTM 50. The rest... Is history in the making!
Outside of riding my favorite things are Power Rangers, playing Army, and anything i can do as long as im outside. My entire family is insane but i love them. On any given race day you can find me, my parents, aunts, uncles, grand parents, cousins, and any other random relative hanging out and helping and supporting me 100%.
Riding Goals
I hope to achieve many things this season and feel like there is a lesson to be learned from everything But my #1 goal for the 2014 season is to qualify for Loretta's and have to opportunity to line up beside the best kids in the nation.
Did i mention i don't just ride to win easy races and line my room with trophy's? I ride to test myself and become the best! My parents have always taught me it doesn't matter what place you get. Its to always be better than i was the day before.
Competitive Highlights
2013 Scrub n' Dirt Race Series:
This is where i tell you i got DEAD LAST in my first race! I actually got lapped by the entire field... But its ok because i was a little bit better at the next race. Then i started passing a few kids after that. A few races in and i was either on the podium at every race or right there fighting on the verge of it for the rest of the 10 race series. I ended the season in a close battle for first but having to settle for 2nd place. Hey, that's not too shabby considering where i started!
