Personal History

My name is James R Gauge McElvain, I am 11 years old. I live on the east coast in a town called Havelock. I'm currently in the 6th grade at annunciation catholic School.   On our farm we have a 6 acre training facility, which I train daily.  When I’m not on the motocross track I am relaxing on my BMX track, where I ride my verde 18''. My mom bought me my first bike when I was 3 and I've been riding ever since. I didn't start riding competitively till I was about 8 years old.  As the oldest of 4 other siblings I also love to spend time with my younger brother and sister on the track, teaching them and passing on the knowledge. My Dad is a US Marine and is now retired, so he has nothing better to do all day then train and take me to races. My mom works as a Safety Specialist on the military base so she makes sure I have only the best protective gear on the market. Between the two of them I get the best of everything!

Riding Goals

This year I set my goals to improve my riding style by training more on the 85. I will be training this year more with Gary Baily.  One of my goals is to get a bike from KTM, and wear the name proudly. I will be heading to the Mini O's, Alabama, Bronson, Ponca, Oakhill, Millcreek and back to Loretta Lynn's. I will be at lots of Area and Regional Qualifiers to check out my competition.  My goals are to stay competitive, and always strive for the best ride.

Competitive Highlights

My first year racing competitively was last summer of 2010. I took 3rd place at PONCA in the 6-8 mod class and 10th place in the 6-8 stock class.  Last year I also went to the Mini O's and finished 9th in the Motocross stock 7-9 and 10th in the Supercross 7-9 class.  I was the Champion for North Carolina in the Beginner class for 65's, and this year I continued on as, North Carolina State Champion in the 7-9 Stock class, finishing out 2th in the 7-11 mod class. I also left there with 2 Hole Shot Awards from Triangle Cycle. This was my first year to qualify for Loretta Lynn's both the stock and the mod class. Though I didn't place in the top position, I have a desire to reach that goal this coming year. I race all over the east coast, not just in the Carolinas. This coming year will be a better year since my Dad has retired we can travel and get more training in and ultimately win more races!
