Personal History

My name is Gary, I'm from Northern Ireland and I love to ride mountain bikes and race motocross . I trained as a plumber after I left school which led me to a career in engineering. I'm starting to show a lot of potential with racing now that I am training more, and not just relying on my natural ability.

Riding Goals

As a child I always wanted to race motocross because my dad raced when I was younger, he wouldn't take me or my brother racing simply because our family didn't have the money to put into it. So once I was old enough and had saved a little bit of money I bought myself a more competitive bike to go racing and began funding myself, but racing on an extremely tight budget has meant I have missed many races and rounds of our championship. I know I have a lot more left in me and I strongly believe I can and will be a championship contender! I still have the hunger I had when I started riding and I want to win races.

Competitive Highlights

Due to my short racing career I don't have as many achievements as other riders but in the races I have entered I have given my all and had a lot of good results. On my first visit to Desertmartin motocross track I came away with a 9th position in extremely difficult conditions in the soaking wet sand (against a lot of riders who have been racing far longer than I have). In May 2016 at an afternoon motocross meeting at Seaforde which was made up of a practice session and 5 races throughout the day I had a number of good results, including a 6th (due to coming together with another rider and coming through the pack from dead last), three 3rd positions and a 2nd place finish.
