Personal History

My name is Gage Friedrichs and I am 10 years old and live in Littleton, Colorado.  I have been riding motorcycles since I was 4 years old and I love it!   I have tried other sports and still do some of them very well but it seemed like Motocross was my calling.   When I was younger my family would go camping alot and I started riding on trails in the mountains with them, I even raced my older sister on them as well.  I won alot!  I would race my dogs and family members all the time.  When I ride I ride all day long, there is no stopping me.  I like doing other things that I can do outside as well, like skateboarding, football, bike riding, riding scooters, but nothing beats riding my motorcycle.  My favorite riders are Travis Pastrana as I love his tricks and I hope one day I can do some of that.   My favorite racers well I have a lot of them - Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, Dean Wilson, Blake Bagget, Justin Barcia just to name a few.   I love watching motocross on TV and I hope one day I can be one of those riders.  My mom and dad say I am super tough.    In the last two years (last year and this year) on my motorcycle practicing I ended up getting hurt and being out of the race season for a while.   It didn't stop me when I was healthy I was back on my motorcycle and back on the track like nothing changed.

I like to go all out in everything that I do.   I am very competitive but at the same time I like learning from others around me.    The more I learn the better I get.

Riding Goals

Some of my goals for this year are having FUN, LEARNING ALOT and RIDING HARD.  Of course I want to win races too!  I would also like to learn how to jump like the pros,  and ride smarter.  I have no fear, so I don't think that there is anything that can stop me from doing all of these things and more!  I have already met alot of great new friends, and I hope to meet more.  Friends are important to have and they can teach you alot!   My mom and dad have started me training very heavily with a  few of the local pros.  I train up to 2 times a week to help me with corners, body positioning, proper techniques and more.    I love my trainers they have helped me so much and this is just the beginning.    My goals are pretty simple to stay healthy and no more broken bones (as two years and a row I have missed some racing), and to keep getting better and faster.   The goals for the long run espeically as we get into the 2013 season is to be in the top 3 in my class here in Colorado and try to qualify for Loretta's.   I know that is a lofty goal but I believe with the hard work, training, practicing and focus I can do it.

Competitive Highlights

This is my third year racing I hope to be able to add more to this list.  I have ran the 50 and 65 class last year. This year I am focusing most of my effort in the 65cc classes and practicing a bit with a new 85cc I just got.  This year has been a learning experience from going from no shifting to learning how to shift correctly through turns, jumps, etc.  I have competed in most of the races this year minus when I was out with a broken arm.   I have been getting much better since training and practicing on my 65cc.   I have nailed down the proper ways to jump, the starting gate which normally I am in the top 3 positions around the first turn.    I would like to be placing much higher than 5th, 6th and 7th but I also know that I am working very hard and I am the youngest kid right now in my class by over a year.    The one item I am focusing on which I  know wins or loses races is my cornering.   I have a trainer that is making sure I get better and faster through corners and once I get that down to perfection I will be one of the top 65cc riders in my class.    I hate to lose even though I know the other kids are better than me I know I am good enough to beat them.   My dad always tells me that if I keep working hard because I want to be the best than I will.    I love motocross, being on my bike and having fun but when it comes down to race time it is all about focus and making sure I do everything I can to try and win.
