Rider Updates
Apr 23 2012
This past weekend was 2 days of racing. Despite the mud the racign proceeded. On Saturday practice went well. Pulled out of moto 1 with a 5th place finish. Still getting used to the much faster bike. Same bike, new top end and crankshaft. Started off moto 2 held up on the line by a fallen rider but still pulled off 5th for a 5th overall for the day.
Sunday brought about some more rain so they shortened the track a touch. Even with the rain there were 18 kids in the 50jr class versus 9 the day before. First moto yielded a 6th place finish. Second moto was looking good. Running in 4th when a rut upended the bike, landing on Gage. Gage was quick to get up and going but had to do with another 6th place finish for 6th overall for the day.
Both races were double points races this weekend.

The season opener at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa was a day we were counting down to. The weather just wasn't going to have it. Half way through the practice sessions it was determined the track was too muddy for the little bikes. Less than 15 minutes later the entire race was called off. Next weekend is a double header at Fun Valley, Monezuma, Iowa. Though rain is in the forecast for next weeknd as well we will remain optimistic.

Less than 6 months ago, 5 year old Gage Brock decided it was time to try his little bicycle without those clunky training wheels. 2 Weeks later he took his first solo drive on a Honda XR50R.
Family friends familiar with motocross encouraged just trying a race. Gage's first race in front of his hometown of Washington, Iowa was at the Washington County Fair. After the excitement of the first run the next was Fun Falley in Montezuma, Iowa.
The Honda would ride two more races before the Cobra came to be. Some tuning and tweaking on the Cobra and the stage was set. Gage is addicted, the family is hooked. 2-3 evenings or more per week of practice shows through each race. Other kids have taken note. Other families have accepted us into the race family. Each week we are told over and over that Gage is a natural, that they can't believe the progress in just mere months.
We look forward to each weekend and are excited to see what next season brings. Support from sponsors will ensure we can get to the maximum number of events and if support is good enough, treking to a couple Arena events through the winter is a goal.
The trophies and recognition are nice, the friendships and experiences are awesome, even working on the bike is fun, but it's the whole experience as whole that makes it irresistable.
Gage's race placement is improving, points will be a focus in 2012, but it's his personality, his dedication, and as many others have noticed, his natural talent that would be the attention getters that promoting a supporters product or serivce requires.
