Personal History
My name is Gabe Elmore. I am 17 years old, live in Telkwa, BC, Canada and I ride a Yamaha YZ250 in the
pro MX2 and Youth classes. I pay for my own bikes and do all of the work on them myself. I started racing in the fall of 2009 on an RM85, and didn't do very well at first. By 2011, I started winning locally in the 85 7-11 class. In 2012 I moved up to supermini and finished 1st in the BC North Series in the supermini and schoolboy classes. 2013 was a bit of a rough year. After spending a few months in California, I finished third at the Western Canadian Amatuer Nationals and was winning BC North races until I started having bike problems, eventually having to move up to 125. At my third Junior race on the 125 I was involved in a first turn crash that left me with a broken leg. In 2014, I was in the Junior class full time on the 125 and won a few races before getting hurt again, breaking my arm in a practice crash. I moved up to the Intermediate class on a 250F in 2015 but didn't feel comfortable on it right away and ended up racing the 125 for the first half of the year. I managed to finish out the year in second in both Intermediate MX2 and Youth. I also raced arenacross but had scattered results due to lack of experience in that type of racing. For 2016 I moved up to a YZ250 and immediately felt comfortable on the 2 stroke. With only a few hours on the bike before the first race, results didn't come right away, but by the end of the MCQMX Series I was winning overalls and eventually finished 1st in the series in Intermediate MX2 and Youth. I also tried to qualify for Round 1 of the CMRC Pro Nationals in Kamloops, but had bad luck during qualifying and ended up 47th. After the MCQMX Series ended, I raced the last two rounds of the PMA series and won most of the motos in Expert MX2. For 2017 I moved up to the pro class and managed to qualify for the first two Canadian Pro Nationals in the MX2 class, finishing as high as 26th one spot away from a points paying position. I again raced the MCQMX north series in between working full time and finished 2nd in Open Pro-am 1 point out of first and 2nd place in Under 30 tied for 1st in points.
Riding Goals
In 2018, my goals are to race the first 4 rounds of the Canadian Pro Nationals. and attend as many MCQMX races as I can.
