Personal History
My name is Evan Philo, I'm 17, and I race all over Australia in the Victorian and Australian off road championships. I also compete in the Finke Desert race and Hattah each year. I have had decent results in the past, claiming a 4th in the overall championship in the offloads and just inside the top 150 for both Hattah and Finke.
My father was my riding mate, my trainer and my wallet when it came to racing, and unfortunately last week he sadly passed away after a nasty dirt bike accident.
To live up to his dream of cracking the top 100 at Finke i am racing on his behalf, and I'm training harder then ever before in order to fulfil his dream. Im racing this year upon his bike that he crashed on, which is a 2016 KTM 350 EXC-F.
This is by no means a sob story. Im not capitalising on the loss of his life in order to gain support from companies, although some help would be highly appreciated, as the sport of mx is quite expensive. When riding three times a week, keeping my bike fresh is a struggle.
Riding Goals
Goals for the coming year and the future.-
For the year ahead I'm planning to continue the off-road championships and better my results each round, and achieve a top 50 in both the Hattah and Finke desert races outright. I one day hope to race motorcycles at a professional level and secure as many major event wins as possible.
Competitive Highlights
The majority of highlights when it comes to riding and racing are those I shared with my dad. Last year, at 16 racing my first finke desert race, the toughest in Australia was a huge accomplishment, and having those memories to look back on with my father are priceless. He also competed and achieved a respectable result for an old guy!
other highlights would be competing in Australian based international events such as Melbourne enduro-X of which I achieved a 8th place in juniors .
