Personal History

My name is Evan Jones, Im 21 years old and working as a 3rd year electrical apprentice.  I started riding dirtbikes when I was 10 and I've never been without a bike since. My dad rode dirtbikes when he was a teenager and still rides streetbikes, so he was a huge inspiration for me to be who I am now in the sport of motocross.

Riding Goals

My riding goals for this year are to perfect my riding stance/style and generally "clean-up" how I ride.  I am very comfortable on the track, but I feel that changing my stance could really improve my overall results in practice and race days.

Of course everybody wants to be first place, but from past experience I've learned that setting more reasonable goals end up giving you much better results.  My goal this year is to finish in the podium in MX3 class, and top 5 in MX2.  Having goals like this, rather than just going for gold all the time, are much less stressful and seem more realistic, resulting in better confidence and most importantly - lap times!

Competitive Highlights

I only started entering races this past year in 2013, and I've heard nothing but positive feedback from my fellow riders.  I started the year with a lap time of +/- 2:36 at my home track Sand Del Lee, and ended up having a 2:11 as my fastest lap time last year.  That was MY biggest accomplishment of the year.  I competed in the Iron Mans at Sand Del Lee, and in my first ever race I finished 8th place out of 26 riders in the MX3 class. My second moto that day I managed to finish in 6th place.  This gave me huge confidence on practice days and resulted in shaving even more time off my laps.  I entered the MX2 class a few months later which was a lot more intimidating but I kept my confidence and finished in 11th place in my first moto, and 8th in the second.

In 2014 I am entering every race and really focusing on achieving the goals that I have set out for myself as a rider.
