Rider Updates
Oct 24 2010
It was the first time racing in two weeks. I was
clearly rusty but I had some incentive to race harder. My girlfriend
had come along to help out and see me race. It was my last race for the
2010 season and I was looking forward to racing with the faster NESC
riders. I rode well in practice and got some good speed. I hadn't
ridden he track in two years almost and had to get used to the unique
style and soil. I felt at home on the track after practice and looked to
race well. I got okay starts in the first half of racing but then had
to pass more riders. In the second half I was determined to get better
starts. I got two really great top 5 starts and finished well inside
the top 10 bu one of then I crashed while in about 5th place and got run
over off the start. I rebounded and finished strong but not great. I
got overalls of 11th,6th, and 5th. I got my first ever NESC trophy and a
spectacular end to my 2010 season.
Oct 10 2010
I was happy to be at a track tha I hadn't raced at
but practiced at. I saw a new section on the track and had to watch
some other races to gauge what was the best approach. I had tough
starts and got taken out on the first one of the day. I rebounded and
did very well for myself. I pushed the whole day and even got a visitor
in my drum lesson teacher. It was cool to have him see one of my other
great passions. I ended the day with overalls of 12th, 10th, and 9th.
I worked very hard on improvement and had tons of fun. It was a day to
remember for me.
Oct 3 2010
I was back for the last NHC race of the year. I rode well in
practice and felt very comfortable on the bike. I tried to block out
anything negative and focus on positives. I ran well in all of my first
motos. Making few mistakes even though I fell twice. haha. I
rebounded and rode hard. I ended the day with 1sts in all three of my
classes. One was especially had fought because I had another rider to
contend with. They had beaten me in the first moto, but I kept thinking
of beating them. Well I made a really phenomenal pass and pulled out
on them and kept it there for the whole race. I was greatly pleased at
my racing for the last NHC race of the year.
Sep 11 2010
I was back at Jolly Rogers for another NHC race. I rode well
in practice and made sure to watch for the muddy spots. My first moto, I
got the holeshot and won. I never had anyone get close and just pulled
away from the pack. I had never done it before and it was a whole new
experience. I rode well and stayed relaxed. It was great to take the
new bike control I had gained from practice and apply it to the track. I
got 1st in all three classes. It was the first time I had won
everything that I entered. I was so happy about my races and how well I
did. I am still very proud of it.
Jul 21 2010
I hadn't the motocross track at Winchester yet for 2010
and was excited to be going back to one of the great tracks that I
enjoy. I got to see the new changes that were made and the
inprovements. I noticed that the track would be rough and I like riding
then because I practice in such rough conditions. I rode easy in
practice, just scoping things out. Then in the races I worked to get
good starts which was challenging for me personally. I got decent
starts and charged through the field as much as I could. For the day I
ended up with overalls of 15th, 13th, and 10th. I felt really good
about my performance. I knew that I had given everything I had and kept
pusching for more speed. I also noticed that I was much faster at the
end of the day because I had become more comfortable on the bike. I
looked to improve on that during my practice time. It was a great day
of racing for me.
Jul 15 2010
I hadn't raced in a month or so and was quite out
of shape. I had been practicing but it's not the same a racing. I even
took a nap between some motos. Regardless, I had gone to race. I was
super pumped to be racing again. I love the feeling of hanging
everything out and getting just a little out of control but holding back
complete recklessness. I raced well and since I have ridden MX-207
before I was used to the flow of the track. I felt very comfortable
except in practice. On one section it was very small doubles. I knew
that I wouldn't have any problem making them escept in practice I felt
that I came up short when I really overshot the landing and was casing
into the take off for the next double. Well, the next lap around I was
determined and launched pretty good but ended up off the track. I ended
up overall on the great day with overalls of 11th, 9th, and 7th.
Jun 11 2010
quickly learned that Jolly Rogers is a great track. It has good flow
and as long as you are conscientious of the rocks, you have a great
time. I worked more on starts and knew that if I got out front It would
mean less people to pass. Well I surprised myself when I got a second
place start and kept it till the end of the moto. I was pumped. It was
hands down my best finish ever. I then went on to win a class because I
went 2-1 for 1 overall. I had never won a moto before and I couldn't
believe it when I was in the lead. I was overrun with feelings of pride
and joy. I knew that I needed to stay composed and I relaxed and rode
well. For the day I got 2nd, 1st, and 4th for overalls. I got the 4th
because of falling and making mistakes. I still felt really good as I
had never taken trophies home for every class I raced. I looked forward
to improving on it and getting faster
Jun 5 2010
It was good to be back at a track. I hadn't been
in a while because of prior commitments. I had been riding locally and
practicing so I felt ready to go out and race. I showed up to practice
on a track that I had never ridden or even seen before that day. I
tried a lot of different lines and found some good ones t use in the
races. I knew that it would be different because I hadn't really
practiced starts so I was very rusty. I knew that making the top5 was
out of reach but I wanted to be close to top 10. I worked very hard in
all of my races to make that happen. I ended up with two 10th places
and one 13th place. I have to say I was satisfied with my performance
considering that I hadn't raced yet in 2010.
Jul 26 2009
I had gotten back on the bike and rode locally at some sandpits and went to MX-207 once. Now it was time to go back to Crow Hill again. As I pulled in I became a little nervous because there were a lot more people at Crow Hill than at MX-207. That meant more bikes getting closer to me when I'm riding.
Jul 19 2009
I had healed up and was permitted to ride a dirt bike again. I was so excited! I went to some local places first and quickly found I was out of shape and had a weak shoulder. Despite my best efforts, having my arm in a sling for weeks had taken it's toll. I worked to improve my strength and conditioning by riding more frequently and each time for longer than the previous time. After riding locally I NEEDED to go to a track. We decided MX-207 would be good. They had changed almost none of it and I had tons of fun there. When we got there I realized it was going to be muddy. I had tons of fun but got really really tired by the end of the day. It felt like I slept for three days afterwards. I got some feedback from my Dad and from video and I looked good for my first time back at a track and my elbows were good. The only thing I needed to work on was speed and stamina. I looked to improve those greatly this summer and in the fall.
May 19 2009
I had been to North Carolina in Feburary and Mototown in March before it closed but now Crow Hill was open for practice. I decided to go and see how I was doing for outdoor tracks in New England. It had been an eventful winter but I was sure the summer would be bigger. So I went once for practice and felt really good on the bike, comfortable and fast would be the best way to describe it. I had gotten used to the new sections and started going even faster. I came back a week later and was having a blast. I was looking really good and couldn't wait to race. In fact, I was planning to race for the first time in 2009 the next day at Winchester Speedpark. Then ... I crashed. It was in the new section coming out of a corner on a short straight. I was in a wheelie because I hit the gas hard. I saw a rock, A BIG rock. I tried to miss it but I hit it with the rear wheel everything went to the left and I went to the right. Then it all goes black. I woke up to the staff of Crow Hill working on me. My shoulder was a little sore and it felt like the chest protector was poking me. My head hurt a little and I had blurry vision in the left eye. Then I realized the chest protector had been taken off and that my shoulder was not doing good. It started hurting more and more. I was taken in the ambulance and given morphine. I ended up with a broken shoulder blade and a mild concussion. The doctor told me I wouldn't be able to ride for 8 weeks. So much for the spring series. I was looking to do extremely well but a rock changed that. Anyway, all I could do was to quickly change my focus from racing to getting back in good shape and on top of my game.
Apr 19 2009
I had heard that some changes happenned at Mototown USA and headed down to see them and ride even though there was snow on the ground. I saw that not everything had changed and rode for a bit on the new track focusing on what I had learned down in North Carolina. I noticed that I had improved a lot while down in North Carolina. Everything seemed to flow better and be a lot easier. When I tried going faster, I didn't have to think, I just twisted the throttle some more and kept my body positioning and went faster. Corners seemed to come to me instead of me trying to force my way through them. I actually squared some corners off for the first time in my life and not by accident. I saw some friends and enjoyed the day. I had picked up a lot of speed from North Carolina and it showed. Then after I got home and a few days passed I heard that Mototown was going to close for good not just be under that management. It was being changed into a facility for movie making. While I had some good and bad memories at that track, I will miss it. It was so nice to have a place to ride here in New England even when it was cold or the ground was frozen and covered with snow.
Feb 19 2009
It was the next to last day and I still hadn't been to one of the tracks so we loaded up and headed for Half Moon. When we got there it was a sight to see. Nobody had showed up and I had a track to myself for the second time that week. The first time out was an eye opener. The dirt looked very dry and smooth in a lot of places wih a few puddles. But, when I would go into a corner with some speed, what i though was dry turned out to be 6- inch deep mud. This mud was not normal for me because it was so much like clay. I had a really hard time out my first time. I talked with my Dad for a bit about how I was uncomfortable with not being able to tell what i was riding on. He instinctively told me to just focus on my form and everything would be fine. I went out another time and started clearing some of the jumps and picking up speed. When i pulled of my dad was not happy. I had forgotten all of the previous days work and he showed me the video. Everytime i started twisting it to hit a jump the elbows would drop and would not come back up until i had slowed down for the corner. I was hugely disappointed. So I went out again. This didn't help and i just became more uncomfortable. So with JMP being about 30 minutes away we packed up and left for JMP. When we got there few people had showed up there too and the track was in great shape. I went out and somehow refocused on my elbows. I kept riding into the night and saw some New England people who pulled in after th sun had gone down. It was cool to see people from New England so far away from home. We had a great day and were planning to go to Crystal Coast for the last day. When we got to Crystal Coast the next day, I rode once or twice and when I pulled off, looked at my sprocket and all but 7 teeth had been turned to nubs. My Dad had asked me how that could happen and I
Feb 18 2009
On the next day, after getting some rain the previous night, we went to Crystal Coast for the second time to start working on picking up some speed. Well, all I can say is that the clay down south reacts a lot different to rain than the sand up in New England. I found myself constantly getting sideways and the front end pushing a lot in the mud. There were nice big pools of water in a few places that created some definite challenges. However, as more people rode and the day progressed the track dried out and improved a lot. I was trying very hard to keep my elbows up which was a big deal. Then after the first few times out, Dad showed me the video my sister had taken of me riding. I was astonished to see that my form was horrible in almost every corner but got worse when i started getting more aggressive down the straights. So the next time out I stayed in second gear and just focused on my elbows. Sometimes I just looked at my elbows for a little bit to make sure what I was feeling was happening. So after I had done that I allowed myself to shift between second and third gear. Slowly I worked my way to include fourth gear. I had made major improvements on my elbows by the end of the day and had tons of fun doing it. The plan was to go to Half Moon MX the next day and check out their set up.
Feb 17 2009
When it came to the second day of riding, we decided to check out Jacksonville Motorcross Park. I had a fun time at Crystal coast the day before but was ready to slow down and rework my body positioning. When we pulled in it was different to see almost nobody at a track when it was open. I was used to MX-207's smaller crowds but this was totally different. JMP was a sand track though so i could see how less people might want to go there since it had been dry lately. There were some big jumps that intimidated me when we pulled up. The finish was ... well i honestly questioned if it was a double. On my first sight lap i landed halfway between the landing and take off and realized I should clear it. There was a step on that was a really cool jump. I thought this track was going to be boring because of it's size but i quickly realized while on the bike that it was a blast to ride at jump! I worked very hard for three motos focusing specifically on my elbows. I improved a lot and by the end of the day I felt like I had become ready to start picking up speed. I looked forward to applying what I had worked on when trying to get faster in the next couple days
Feb 16 2009
During February vacation I went to North Carolina. The hope was to get some time in on the bike and work on basics like body postioning. I stayed in New Bern at a timeshare. The timeshare was very nice and allowed for a good night's sleep after many hard days of riding. I planned on riding at three tracks: JMP, Crystal Coast, and Half Moon. The ride down was long to say the least. It was fun though because we sang to the radio and played fun car games. I got to see New York, the Statue of Liberty, and many more sights. The first day was probably the most fun I've ever had in one day on a bike. I learned a lot about myself as a rider. I found out that I needed to be more realistic and aware of my abilities. When we first showed up to Crystal Coast I doubted if I could clear many of the jumps. Even on the sight lap I started clearing some of those jumps. I then found out that I needed to be a lot more aware of myself on a bike because in the videos my dad took you could clearly see that I had horrible body positioning when I tried to go faster. I realized I had a lot of work to do that week.
Sep 1 2008
The last day of regionals for '08 and I was super pumped. I did well and even though I still couldn't get really good starts. My No Fear gear was working well and I really enjoyed my new graphics. The track was tons of fun and there wasn't any really bad sections but they were all really challenging. The best part of the weekend was enjoying the racing and spending time with my friends and family. I finished 17th in the Open C , then 19th in the Youth C , then 13th in the Schoolboy, and finally 20th in the Lites C. I was really happy to make it to Monday in all four of my classes and to finish all of my motos, knowing I was charging and passing people until the checkered flag was out. I did well in all my classes and look forward to racing more for the remainder of this season.
Aug 31 2008
I really enjoyed the nice hot shower and some good breakfast from my uncle. I had been able to sleep in a nice and comfortable bed. At the track I got ready for the races. I got a site lap instead of practice. Insted of being allowed to go as fast as I want to for some laps I was only allowed one lap under caution with no passing. I had some fun fooling around with Josh Lemoine. Then it was time to go full out for the races. I had really bad starts all day and I couldn't figure it out. I just wasn't getting it done. I did well though for bad starts. I got the finishes I needed in the Lites and Youth classes to make it into the motos on Monday, finishing 10th in my group (out of 33) in Lites and 7th in my group (out of 25) in Youth. I had did OK in Schoolboy but in the Open C start I got run over. I got pushed out into another bike and then I got run over and my bike had some damage on the plastics that were bent but not too bad. After I got up I kept pushing the entire race to salvage a 22nd finish. My chances for a top 10 overall were gone but I was happy to pass as many riders as I did to get that finish. Overall it was a awesome day. I had tons of fun and really enjoyed myself.
Aug 30 2008
I was back racing and everything was going good. I was really pumped to be racing at the New England Regional Championships. I had been practicing to make sure that I wouldn't have any problems. All had been going well and we got ready on Thurs. We woke up later than usual and headed to the track. We waited in line for at least two hours just to get into the track but it was OK because my Dad and I talked about my riding and what my expectations were for the Regionals. Well we got in and ended up with a pretty good spot for our pit. After setting up we checked in, took my bike through tech inspection, and hung out. My Dad and I walked the track since they had made some changes since we last raced there, lots of sand and sawdust added. We also visited some friends we hadn't seen in a while since I hadn't been to the races in a month. After some time at the track we headed out to the store. We got some ice and food. Then we left the store and went to the track for the pit bike races. It was cool to see some really intense racing on such little bikes. I stayed overnight at my uncle's house which was a really smart idea. After a nice shower and some breakfast we went to the track. I had a decent practice and learned some very important things about the track. I had really good first moto's and had tons of fun. I was in four classes. They were Schoolboy, Lites C ,Open C, and Youth C. . I was going to have to qualify for the Lites and Youth classes since there were 65+ and 50 riders in each class and only 40 would make it to Monday. I did well in all of them and couldn't wait for the next day.
Aug 26 2008
Well after I had solved the clutch problem I was hoping to improve my speed. I went to the SX night at WSP and did OK. I really stayed off the clutch and enjoyed riding. I had noticed that the bike felt a lot more powerful now that the clutch wasn't being slipped the whole time. I finished well and cleared some new jumps. The following day I went to MX-207. I had been to the track before but wanted to work on some things. I enjoyed the practice and tried hard to work on things like the transitions from braking to on the throttle, from standing to sitting, and on corner speed and body position. It was cool and I had tons of fun. I went to WSP the next weekend for a SX race with a MX race the following day. I had a good time on the SX with very little surprises . I finished well but nothing really felt right that day. On the MX I had bad luck. I was doing really good in the day and actually finished top ten on a gate of 40. When I tried to go on the inside and the was a bump to slow you down. I went off of it and my foot went under the footpeg and frame and when I landed I landed on it and that hurt a lot. I finished the day even though I had a bad ankle and I went down off the start in the last moto. My hand went on top of the rear wheel of another rider and bounced off the top of the tire. It hurt but not too much. From there I left for Boy Scout camp. It was fun and I got a lot of stuff done. The following Saturday, I went to the SX for a night race. I did practice but then ended up going home because of my ankle. I went to the doctors and they told me to take it easy for a few days but that I could get back in the sport soon. I took two week off and went to try and go to Crow Hill to pratice on the Sat. before the NEMX race at crow hill on sun. We got a

Well I tried many times to ride in the weeks following the race at Jolly's but I was plagued with lots of clutch issues. I went to Hemond's for June 7 and 8 and on the first day I had major clutch issues. Luckily Nate Moraweic had his dad's bike, a Honda 250F, as a back up and he allowed me to ride it. I definitely noticed it was heavier and I fell and stalled it but I enjoyed trying a new bike. THANK YOU NATE AND HIS FAMILY. We had to skip the New England Classic because we couldn't get the parts in time to fix my bike and make it to the races. The next time I tried to race was the July 4th weekend at WSP for Fri. and Sat. The plan was to then head to Jolly's for Sun. Well, on Friday, I had the same clutch issues and Tyler Cleveland let me use his back up 250F. It was fun to finish Fri. on a 250F. I actually finished OK in some races which was cool. Then on Sat. I broke Tyler's bike, again with a fried the clutch. It was pretty funny because I could feel the bike losing power but I was just hoping that I hadn't fried the clutch. So we had to get Tyler some new plates but it was OK. Having clutch problems on two different bikes made me realy rethink what I was doing when I was riding. It turned out the problem was was that while at Gary Semics I was told to leave one or two fingers on the clutch all the time. That might work for some people or if they use one finger but on the straights when I would be going faster and actually trying to hold the bike so i wouldn't fall off or swap. I would pull in the clutch just enough to slip the clutch pretty bad and that would fry the clutch plates pretty quick. So after the mechainical problem I was really looking to improve and maybe get some good finishes. My uncle and cousin were a lot of help from all the trips to my uncle's house for advice and we even ended up splitting the cases. That was pretty cool but I can't thank my uncle e
Jun 1 2008
I was super pumped to be racing at Jolly's. I had never been and I had
gotten a really good night's sleep at my uncle's house. I woke up got
to take a shower and then headed out. We walked the track and it
looked awesome. In practice I took it slow but tried some things.
Then, in my first moto, I rode hard but was messing up with my gears
and the bike would bog. In my next moto I couldn't get off the gate
which had been a problem and then I had many problems with the clutch
and shifting. We rushed after that to get new clutch plates in even
though the old ones looked fine. I had a bad gate for being late but
still couldn't get a good start. I just tried everything and it didn't
work. I got hung up and was in last place for people who didn't fall
off the start. I just started riding really hard. I was flying and
passing people on the outside. I was pumped but then right after
Suicide Hill the bike stopped going. I had to push it off the track
and watch as my friends rode. We packed up and went to my uncle's
house. We determine the clutch springs were the culprits but that the
pressure plate and boss were worn down too. Everything else looked
good and hopefully I will be ready for Hemonds next weekend.
May 31 2008
I was back at the supercross track and there were some changes to the
track. Pretty much all the triples and the really hard section of the
track was made a whole lot easier. In fact I ended up clearing all the
jumps by my second moto. Anyway I was looking forward to racing hard
and hoped the rain would hold off. It ended up raining off and on
throughout the whole day and at one of my motos right on the line it
relly started to rain but it quickly subsided. In my first moto I did
well but still was trying to get the track totally dialed in. In the
second moto I tried some new things and tried to pick up the pace but
it wasn't happening. In the third moto I tried to go faster and be
aggressive but felt slow. Then after a pep talk from my Dad I went
into the second half really going for it. In the Open C I started to
do well and got a 7th. Then in the Youth C I charged and got an 8th.
In the last moto of Lites C I got an 8th. I was happy with my
performances but look to get better finishes.
May 24 2008
I was super pumped to be racing again. My leg was all healed up and I
was determined. I woke up early and we headed out. I had a weird
clutch because of mechanical difficulties. Anyway I was fmiliar with
it and It felt fine. I got to the track and set up my pit area. I got
signed up and hung out. Then I got dressed for practice. In practice
I saw some familiar faces and felt good. I was focusing on body
position and technique. I cruised around and had tons of fun. In my
first moto, which was a qualifier for Youth C, I got a decent start and
rode hard. I finshed well and I felt good, but I thought that maybe I
could get some more speed. In my second moto, which was also a
qualifier fro Open C, I felt good but didn't get as good of a start. I
finshed mediocre and ended up with a 9th. In my third moto of the
first half I got another OK start but messed up and lost some time. I
was getting motivated to go harder into the corners. I did well and
got a 19th. In the second half I was really determined to get a better
start and then charge. In my Open C moto I messed up on the timing for
the start and didn't do well. I charged and started to get mad at the
riders that were out of control. A few time they really made me mad.
In fact one made me very angry and I flew right by him. I went into
the corner on his out side and he pushed me to the top of the berm and
I mean the TOP, almost over the edge, and the left room for me to go up
the hill. I was about a quarter of the way there when he came over and
I could either fall or go off the edge. I chose to go off the edge and
I made it but I had the bike pinned. I got a little side ways in the
grass and then went on to pass him and end up with a 22nd
May 18 2008
I looked forward to racing on the MX track to see if I could keep up
with others. I woke up later than normal because I stayed over my
Uncle's house which was a really smart idea. I got a shower and felt
refreshed. I had already set aside an area for our pit and we set up.
In practice I saw some familiar faces and was just checking out the
track. As usual, it was muddy and I rode fine. In my first moto I had
an awesome start. Since it was Grand Prix style and I had a 125, I got
off the line and to the corner about 2nd or 3rd. I messed up and ended
up about 7th in the second corner but held my spot there. I was riding
really well and decided to try and charge the off camber corner
harder. I ended up making the wheel pop out of the rut and it washed
out. I fell but the bad part was that when I did go down the
handlebars went into my leg and it really hurt. I got up and rode
really hard after that. I stalled and then got stuck behind some
out-of-control riders but finished 19th. After the race I was checked
out by the EMTs and decided not yo race again that day. It was fun but
I want to do a lot better next time.
