EREK KUDLA

Personal History

I started riding motorcycles at the age of 7 after spending my early years riding BMX. My first bike was a KDX 80 (which later got passed on to my little brother Ryan Kudla) which I rode for about 3 years. Then I moved to an old 1989 YZ 80 and then to a 1995 KX 80. My first race was a GP in Gorman in 1996 on that KX 80. I started in the beginner class and had to quickly move up to the Novice class after getting 3rd over all mini. After 3 races as a novice the next season they moved me up to the Intermediate class where I raced one Hare and Hound with Kurt Caselli (when he was still on a mini) kept in my sights until my water pump seal broke and I fouled a plug. I still ended up 3rd mini over all. In 1998 I moved up to a 1994 ATK 406 for my first race outside of the mini class and after the spark plug cable melted to the exhaust pipe I was dead last. Soon after I started playing music and focused on that for the next 8 years.

In 2006 I hopped back on a bike in the intermediate class and improved drastically every round. In 2007 I raced a YZ 250 from dead last finishes in the beginning of the season to being one of the top contenders for the AMA National Hare and Hound 250 B title. In 2008 after a strong finish to the year and several titles under my belt I moved to the Expert 250 class and have been riding as strong as ever! I am considered as one of the most consistent riders in District 37 finishing every race I have entered since 2007. Our family is also a huge part of District 37, putting on several events a year as well as several riding clinics benefiting the District Rescue Crews.

Finish First Overall Sportsman in the Baja 1000

Finish in the top 5 overall in District 37 Desert

Finish in the top 2 in the District 37 Desert 250 Expert Class

Clench a 3rd USDR Open Title

Finish in the Top 20 Overall in the National Hare and Hound Series

Compete in all three Baja races and take the Class 21 title.
