Personal History
My name is Dylan, and I am 12 years old. I have a little sister who is 6, who comes to every race I have. She is my biggest fan. I am in 6th grade at Menifee Middle School. Middle School is alot harder than elementry, so my grades aren't as good, but I am trying really hard. If I am not in school, I am outside riding my bike, my scooter or skate board with my friends. I go to the track as much as I can. I spend every Tuesday night at Perris Raceway practicing, and any other day my parents can get me there. I started riding at the desert when I was 4 on a Honda 70 three wheeler! Actually before that riding with my mom or dad on their bikes out at the dunes. People at camp used to get so annoyed because all I wanted to do was ride, and I wouldn't let anyone rest until they took me! That Honda comercial with Jeremy McGrath "I wanna ride" cracks my parents and their friends up because they think I started that saying before that commercial even came out! I started racing BMX at Cactus Park in Lakeside and did that for a couple of years. I wanted to ride a dirt bike, and got a TTR90. I wanted to race dirt bikes, but my mom wouldn't let me because she thought it was too dangerous. So, I grew out of the TTR, and got a Suzuki RM65 for Christmas when I was 8. My first race was at Perris, and I knew that is what I wanted to do. I love to ride, the track or the desert. I got my 85 when I was 10 from Motoworld. It was Kyle Engle's bike, and I am still on that.
Besides loving to ride, and race, I like to go to the river and wake board and knee board and just hang out in the water with my friends. I like to be outside, but sometimes like to play rock band or other games on my X Box. My family is very important to me, and we spend alot of time doing things. I learned how to surf last summer with my friend and really like the beach, except for the sand that sticks to you like glue! I always want my friends around, they are alot of fun. I have played baseball, and for the past two years have played football.
The summer series for racing is getting ready to start, and I am really looking forward to it. I have moved up to race with some really fast racers, and it will be a challenge, but I am ready for it!
Riding Goals
Some of my goals for the coming year, is to start 7th grade fresh, and get better grades than I did in 6th. If I don't get better grades, I wont be able to race, and that is not an option! I want to try and practice and race more, but we will see because it is very expensive for my parents. I am going to try and be more patient with my little sister, because even though she annoys me, I love her, and I know she just wants to be around me. I want to be better at saving my money instead of spending it every time I get some, and maybe try and help out with what I need for racing, and to help load and unload without being asked. My BIGGEST goal is to clear that 110 foot jump consistantly EVERY time!!!!! Practice at least two times a week and RACE as much as I can and my parents can afford!!!
Competitive Highlights
One of my competetive highlights for me, was my last race when I moved from beginner to novice. The kids were really fast, and I felt that I rode one of my best races. In the first moto, I was in third with a kid right on my rear tire, and he passed me in the last lap. So in the second moto, I was determined to do better. I would close in on him, and he would pull away at the 110 foot jump for the first four laps because I wasn't attempting the jump. On the last lap, I knew I needed to clear the jump to win. I came around the corner and felt good so I went for it. 5th gear pinned, I went for it and landed the jump perfect, and beat him! It was so great!
