Rider Updates

Mar 18 2010

After being away from racing since Mini O's, Drake made his 2010 debut down in Daytona for the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross Championships. After a couple of disappointing heat races to work the kinks out, Drake finished strong in the main events by winning the 65cc 7-11 and the 65cc 10-11 while placing 3rd in the 85cc 9-11 . This brought some confidence  to him and he is now getting prepared to do well at Loretta Lynns this year.

After putting in some hard work Drake had put two top ten finishes at the Mini O's this years. He rode really hard keeping the leaders closer than before. He is set to be a senior in the 65cc 10-11 classes and is looking to become a national champion next year.

We have just come back from Lorettas and this year Drake has made a vast improvement over last year. He started the week off pulling the holeshot in the 65 7-11 class and leading the first 1.5 laps. He made a couple of mistakes and it caused him to finish the moto in 9th. He then would pull two more holeshots in his motos for a total of three all week and winning 300.00 from Motorcycle Superstore.

However the week did have its heart aches. While running in the top 5 in the start of his motos something would always happen, like getting mixed up with another rider or having a bike problem in the last 65 7-11 moto. Drake did end the week on a very positive note finishing 5th in the 65 10-11 stock class. In fact Vurb Moto called Drake the "Holeshot King"!!!

We are very proud of him for his efforts and even when the chips were down he kept on truckin!

This is just a note to inform you of what Drake has been up to. Drake had qualified for Loretta Lynns in the 65cc 10-11 and the 65cc 7-11 mod classes as a 10 year old at the Northeast regional last week. He has worked very hard to get to this point and he will be training hard to get the best results this year at Lorettas. Last year was his first year making it to Lorettas and he learned what it will take to become a Top national level rider. On top of making it to Lorettas and traveling from state to state every weekend he managed to get straight A's in school. He recieved a Presidential award for his academic achievements as well and was chosen to take part in going to Washington D.C. to meet the President with other kids from across the country.
We thank our sponsors for all your support and look foward to finishing out the year strong.

Drake was given the Presidential award for maintaining honor roll throughout his school career.

Jun 8 2009

For every year Drake has been in school he has not received anything less than a B on his report card and has been on the Honor Roll every quarter. This Semester even with all the regionals Drake made straight A's. We are extremely proud of him.

Jun 7 2009

Drake for the second year in the row will be going to the big show. He has worked very hard to get here and understands what he needs to do this year to do better at the National Championships.

Jun 6 2009

Drake has been Nominated to represent his school and the State of North Carolina to meet with Senators and House Representatives to learn more about our Government. It is an honor to be able to have this oppurtunity.

Sep 29 2008

Drake won both of his motos at Birch Creek Motorsports Park to win the Virginia State Championship. Drake has worked hard to get to this point and it is showing. He pulled the holeshot on both motos as well. Good Job Drake!

The week at Lorettas was not perfect by any means. The first moto Drake had a bad accident in which flattened his front wheel, bent his forks, bent his rear wheel and sprocket, and bent his handlebars. He was still able to finish the race amazingly! His lap times were not very good but he finished. The second moto Drake got a top 5 start and once again had got tangled up with another rider. Finally in the third moto he had a 35th place start and mangaged to turn the afterbuners on and work up to 16th. He was very comfortable in the last moto even running through traffic. He was one of a hand full of 65 riders that were jumping the center table top and the double section prior to the finish line. We once agian ended the week well, however did not get the overall results. Lorettas was definitely a new experience with many fast riders there. Drake now looks foward to the Mini O's to claim redemption.

Jun 7 2008

Well it finally happened. Drake made his dreams come true with the help from his sponsors. Tony Coley and Ricky Knowles at K-Force Competition had really stepped up to give Drake the tools for success. Not to mention his mother while working full- time taking him all his races by herself while Drakes dad was in Iraq.  The family has done a lot of sacrificing to get Drake where he is now. Drake has constently been growing in his riding ability and to achieve a 5th place at the mideast regional is an amazing. Drake is now looking foward ti Loretta Lynns, for his first time.

Jun 7 2008

Drake finished the school year out with 4 A's and 2 B's. A couple of subjects gave him some issues but he studied really hard to keep his grades up. He has done well this year and looks foward to 5th grade.

Apr 2 2008

Drake made the decision to step down from baseball after he had fullfilled his obligation to give 100% to motocross. When we asked why he wanted to do this he replied, "there is no other feeling in this world than being on my dirt bike!" With that he has a new found maturity and confidence about himself that he could be one of the best in the country. We found a motocross coach for Drake to go to 2-3 times a week, that has really helped in the past couple of weeks to improve Drakes riding skills. Drake has become very dedicated in trying to be "a fast kid".

Mar 1 2008

We are happy to have the oppurtunity to join forces with K-Force Competition. Ricky Knowles has been building mini motors for years and does quality work. He builds some of the fastests motors around. He had worked on some top riders motors including Cooper Webb.

Jan 23 2008

On Drakes 2nd report card he recieve 4 A's and 2 B's. He has been working really hard to keep his grades up. His 2 B's were still in the 90% range. Congratulations!

Dec 4 2007

After two months of playing baseball Drake realized how much he missed motocross. Although a very talented baseball player Drake had set goals for himself in motocross to make it to Loretta Lynns for the first time in his Amateur career. We told him that he needed to stick with the baseball team and do both since we had made a commitment to the team.

Oct 21 2007

For Drakes first report card in the 4th grade he made straight A's. Hard work and dedication goes along way.

Oct 13 2007

When Drake decides to do something he does it to the best of his ability. He really enjoys baseball and after playing recreation ball he wanted to try to be on a team that all had a strong work ethic. He tried out for the Carolina Rage and became their starting first baseman. We are very proud of him. We will take a break after two years of racing almost every weekend, to concentrate on baseball. As parents we want to make sure that drake is given many oppurtunities to try things prior to making a decision to make a long comittment on one activity.

Sep 9 2007

Drake spent 3 days at MTF and show a lot more confidence than before. As a family we learned quite a bit more to help Drakes training. The definitely came away from MTF alot faster in the corners. He had lots of fun down there with his buddies and new friends he had made.

Jul 26 2007

Ponca City was Drakes first real experience at a Amatuer National. This trip to Oklahoma turned out to be a very good learning experience for him. Drake was very nervous on the gate in the begining of the week and by the end of the week he started feeling a lot more comfortable. In his qualifier races he had trouble making it into the top ten, but by the time the runoffs came he was able to gather an 8th place in the 65 6-8 mod. It was a good way to finish the week and we walked away learning a great deal from our experiences.
