Personal History

My name is Doug and I am a happily married man with two fantastic sons! My oldest son (Henry) is 22 years old and currently serving in the United States Air Force. My youngest son (Charlie) is 19 years old and currently working thru his apprenticeship program as a plumber/pipe fitter. I have been married to my wife (Amy) for 27 years and we are a very close family. We enjoy many outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, downhill skiing, archery, racing dirt bikes and spending time together at our vacation property in northern Michigan.

I work at Stellantis Corp as an automotive engine technician/warranty specialist and my lovely wife is a business customer service representative for a local telecommunications company.

Riding Goals

I was fortunate enough to grow up in a rural area where my bothers and I enjoyed riding 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers and dirtbikes as kids. After getting married and having kids, my son bought himself a dirtbike at 13 years old and asked me to teach him how to ride it. He instantly fell in love with riding. He asked me to buy one for myself so that we could ride the trails in Michigan together. I purchased a bike that summer and we rode every chance we could. A year later, I bought my youngest son a dirt bike so he could learn to ride and enjoy it as well. After telling a coworker about all the fun we were having on our dirtbikes, he introduced us to hare scramble racing. Shortly thereafter, I found myself and my family heavily involved with District #14 hare scramble and sprint enduro racing in Michigan. Both of my sons and I have consistently participated in racing with District #14 for the past 7 years. I have always felt very compelled to give back to an organization (and sport) that has provided my family and friends with so many great memories and experiences. I became an officer/board member as well as a rider rep for the District, and have kept those positions for several years. My wife Amy has also become deeply involved with event scoring for the hare scramble series. Racing has become our biggest focus outside of everyday life and it provides an unexplainable joy for all of us.

I plan to continue my responsibilities as an officer/board member and voluntary rider rep for the 2025 racing season and also plan to commit myself to winning a B class championship in District #14 hare scramble series.

Competitive Highlights

A few of my most notable accomplishments are:

- finding a wonderful wife who not only supports all of my ideas, but chooses to join me in the journey for success. After 27 years of marriage, she’s still my best friend and biggest advocate!

-raising two respectful and responsible young men who appreciate hard work and never shy away from it. They are my pride and joy and make me proud every day!

-finding the courage to get back on a dirbike at 41 yrs old (after not riding for 26 years) and then stepping up to the challenge of participating in competition events.

-participating in 56 different hare scramble events and achieving 36 top ten finishes, 12 top five finishes and 1 first place finish.

-competing on a 4-person team at the Northeast 24hr Challenge in 2023 and finishing 8th place in our class.

-competing on a 6-person team at the Northeast 24hr Challenge in 2024 and finishing 6th place in our class.
