Things you may not know about vacuums - how to clean their brushes and how to dispose of them   

Maintaining a vacuum is always a concern for users. But not everyone knows how to clean the brush correctly. And not everyone knows the right thing to do when they have an unusable vacuum cleaner. This post will offer you the solutions to these problems.                

How to clean vacuum brush - every Shark model 

In this post, we will focus on  How to clean Shark vacuum brush for every model. But remember that you need to turn off the machine and unplug everything before you remove anything.   

1/ Shark Rocket:

  • Detach the cleaning head from the unit.

  • Press both release buttons on two sides to release the cover of the brush roll.

  • Pull the tab on one side to pull the brush out.

  • Use a pair of scissors or the hair removal tool from Shark to untangle the brush.

  • Check for cracks to make sure the brush is still in good shape.

  • Rinse the brush with water and let it dry completely before reinstalling it. 

2/ Shark Navigator And Rotator Powered Lift-Away:

  • Press the two buttons on the floor nozzle down to open the lid of the compartment.

  • Lift the brush up by pulling the tab on the left side. 

  • Use the hair removal tool to untangle the brush. This tool should be placed in the storage compartment on the nozzle. 

  • Wash the brush and let it air dry, then put it back into the unit.

3/ Shark Navigator And Rotator: Deep Clean Method

  • Separate the cleaning head from the body by using a screwdriver.

  • Continue removing two screws near the large wheels, then remove the four screws below the brush.

  • Take the small wheel out and remove the two screws underneath.

  • Find the two hidden screws in the crevices and remove them. 

  • Separate the brush from the machine and untangle it with a pair of small, sharp scissors.  

  • Wash the brush with water and put it back when it completely dried. 

4/ Shark DuoClean Cordless

  • Turn the locks on the brush roll compartment with a coin to remove the cover.

  • Take the brush out then cut all the strings and hair wrapped around it. 

  • Tap the brush over the trash can to shake debris out before putting it back in place. 

How to dispose of an old vacuum cleaner 

If you have an old vacuum cleaner that can’t work anymore, don’t just throw them on the street. Here is How to dispose of vacuum cleaner  correctly:

  • Bring them to a recycling center: they know which parts of a vacuum cleaner can be recycled to make other things. Did you know traffic cones and shampoo bottles are made of recycled vacuum parts?  

  • Drop it off at a scrap yard: some scrap yards will pay for metallic parts of your vacuum cleaner. 

  • Give it to the nearest electronic store: reach out to the nearest electronic store to see if they take old vacuum cleaners. Some may give you credit for a new purchase after this act. 

  • Sell its parts: if some of your vacuum parts are still in good condition, you can sell them to people who need cheap replacements.
