It has been quite a while since I posted some news on here. So here is the recap of the end of the season. I found some speed over the summer. I came back into autumn with a couple wins and good overalls. Infact, I decided that I am racing Pro next year. I learned how to ride a unicycle, I am still working at Clarion Cycles, and of course I ride as much as I can. I am going to Sweden in December, and I will move there for next year too! Only if I can get a bike though. So there you have it. If you dont want to miss an issue, email me at racercharkie@hotmail.com , and I will put you on my www.mxresultz.com mailing list. OK< Keep it cool Kiddo.

Usually, Sunday is spent at a track, chasing some of the fastest off road races in the North East. However, this Sunday was spent burning laps at a motocross track. I have been wanting to get faster. Well, following some of the fastest racers in the area, around a fast track will definetly help me. The track was fun, the jumps were scary, the day was quick. I rode for 5 hours taking 3 small breaks for water and gas. Although I dont think I can qulify for a motocross national, I do think I can win my class at the Cross Country National next weekend. Confidence is a necessity to win, and I finally found mine since my gnarly crash last month.

Big Game Raceway hosted 2 races this weekend. The Saturday race was crazy. The top 3 of us traded positions a couple times. I was in 2nd when I saw the leader coming down a hill we were suppose to be going up. Instead of trying to climb the hill with 2 people stuck on it, I hit the brakes. I slid into another rider that was moving backwards on the trail. I hit him with my handlebars, but not hard, he turned yelled,"What The F*** Are You Doing" and then pushed me. If I had not grabbed his bike, I would have been pushed into the pond on my right. Still enraged, he blasted up the hill. I waited for him to fall over, and then climbed up an over. During all this, third place passed me to take the lead. I caught him and made a crazy pass on the last lap to take the lead.
I thought I would win it until I got to the hill again and found that there was a lapper upside down across the line. I tried to go around, but the loose, soft dirt stole my momentum and I didn't make the hill. The second place rider did the same thing. When the third place rider came through, the lapper had moved over about a foot, which was just enough for him to hit the hill clean and take the win.

The Sunday race was a little less eventful. I suprisingly pulled the holeshot by going inside of Josh Weisenfells in the first corner. After that, the moneyclass got lost on the first lap. We worked through the third row, twice, on the first lap. If the track crew would have taken down the peewee track ribbons which blocked our track, we would have avoided the problem. It was still fun, but frustrating. I'm looking foreward to a professionally organized race next weekend.

It has been quite a while since I won a race. So it was awsome to take the victory this weekend. The competition was stacked, and I would have been ok with 3rd or 4th. Once the race started, I was at a new level of riding. I had an ok start, zero wrecks, picked good lines, and used new found patience. Everytime I ride my 450 I learn more about how to ride it better. I learned so much at the race, and every lap felt easier than the one before it.
I was more nervous on the last lap than anything before. I ride too cautious and gave up a nice gap to a hard chargers Chad Tallman, Jeff Ficsher, and Joe Marsh, but it wasn't enough conservitivness on my part to hand over the win. I need to thank Clarion Cycles, Moose Racing, Scorpion Exo, Smith, Ogio, Pirelli, all my friends, and of course my great family.
If you want to be on my mailing list, you will recieve updates after every race, then email me at racercharkie@hotmail.com with LIST in the subject blank.

I've started doing my updates with mxresultz.com. I will still update on this site, but after every race I will put a little something about the crazy weekend in the updates on mxresultz. It will be short because of my short attention span, but I promise to have it interesting. Here's the deal though, you have to give me your email. Send an email to racercharkie@hotmail.com with the subject line of "UPDATE ME".
My race speed is back, and my confidence is up. I can't wait to ride the bike.

Well, the results are official from the first two rounds of GNCC racing. I just don't get it. I am in better shape than last year, I am on a faster bike, I am more prepared and experienced; so why did I just have my two worst GNCC's in over a year? No mechanical problems, no injury problems, no weirdo freak problems. I guess I just need to ride more. Seriously though, if you have any suggestions, send 'em over. racercharkie@hotmail.com
See you at Steele Creek,

If you have been reading my news(hi mom) then you know that I have been having pain in my back. Well, soon after the crash, I was complaining that I felt like a 70 year old man. My actions also resembled that of a geezer. My holding my back when I bend over to pick something up, and lowering myself into the car with my arms was funny.
I wasn't wrong about feeling 70. After reviewing my MRI results, I was told that I had the back of a 68 year old man.
Multiple bulging discs are pressing my spinal cavity into my spinal cord.
That's good that nothing is broken, and I do anything, as long as I can take the pain.
See you in Florida,

I was reading the GNCC weekly quickfill feature and found that I was mentioned for my results at the last race.

Although I was mentioned as a 200A rider, that was last year. This year I will be in the Open A class on a YZ450f. At that particular race though, I was on my dad's YZ250 two stroke. I was feeling uncomfortable the whole race, because of the suspension set up. My Dad got my bike to start a little bit after the race began, and he rode around on it. He stopped twice to dramaticly adjust my suspension to suit him. Either way, I had fun and I guess I did pretty well.

So in Pennsylvania, wrestling is a big deal. I wrestle just because it is a great workout, especially when Old Man Winter does his work. I still run outside most of the time, but it is very cold. But anyway, back to wrestling. We have practice every week day, and a tournament on most Saturdays. Well, last Thursday, Kyle Bard (the other wrestling captain and 4-wheeler racer for Hetrick Racing) offered to take me to an indoor track. Of course I can't turn down riding.
We went to the track and it was fun. It was more technical than arenacross, but smaller and toned down more than supercross. Aside from being super hard pack and slippery, it was great. I rode countless laps.
Things were good, I was having fun, practicing corner speed, showing the moto guys what GNCC racers can do on a motocross track, and letting my Moose Racing gear catch some air, yeah.......it was good. UNTIL......BAM! AHHHHH! Ouch. I didn't even know what happened until after I did some investigative research .........But I knew I hit that ground hard.
It turns out that I was seat bouncing a single to table top that was right out of a turn. Well, this time, I messed up. It was a combination of rider error and my fast rebounding off-road suspension that led me to endo before the landing of the table top. I was upside down with my YZ450f on top of me.
I broke my awesome Scorpion Exo helmet, and bent my seat, broke my rear fender and left number plate. I was laying on the ground on my back, my legs and lower back were crazy tingling. This was scary, very scary. I tried to move them, I was relieved to find that I could.
So, now, one week later, I am still pretty "hurtin". I swam Saturday, ran Tuesday, Wednesday ran and Wrestled a match(I won buy the way), and Thursday, Today, I started back on my regular routine. It was intense, and I am in pain everywhere. I don't regret it.

Every week, Jason Weigant and the Racer Productions crew assemble news from the Off-Road industry. They put this news together and create a great weekly feature on www.gnccracing.com called "Quick Fill."
This week, they showed a newspaper article of myself that was published in my local paper, THE DERRICK.
Go check it out!

I tried to have a motorcycle movie over the summer. After some awesome filming, Craig's camera went crazy. They took it to get fixed, but the footage was gone. The moto movie didn't work out. We will definetly do one when we get time. For now, check out some fun stuff we did.

My little brother Morgan just graduated to a new bike. He recieved a full race YZ125 that a very fast young up and coming racer generously gave to him.(You are welcome.)
He adapted to the bike way quicker than I expected. He revs it out, feathers the clutch, and lays it over in the corners. Next year he will probably have some pretty good races. I am just happy to not have to wait as long for him when we ride together. Morgan would want me to thank his sponsors for him.

The 2006 GNCC awards banquet is in the books. Convenient for me, it was held in Cranberry, Pennsylvania, which is about 1 hour from my house. We arrived later than we aimed for, but it still worked out good. I was given a nice trophy for 4th in 200A. The real treat was that the guy sitting behind me was a man I had met 1 week earlier at a race. He told me how trusty his YZ125 was, I completely agreed with him. Then he noticed I was on a YZ450f and told me I would have a hard time finishing the race. Well I did finish, and I made sure to mention this to him once I realized who this was. I like to prove people wrong. (I lapped him twice, by the way.) No hard feelings, and congrats on winning your class man.
The ceremonies snailed ahead, my little brother, Zachary, and I became restless. My whole family headed out of the banquet hall, and just talked to people for a while. We talked to Barry Hawk. Zach is a big fan, and I thought his head might explode because was excited, scared, and confused all at the same time. Barry Hawk agreed with what I have been telling my dad all season long.
“You’re kinda’ big for a 125,” he explained to me what I already knew.
“Well, we got a 450 now,” I replied, but he gave me a puzzled look. I guess I will have to show him next year, that a 450 can definitely be competitive at a GNCC. I know I seem 450 crazy now, but that is because I am. I have been riding the Scorpa too. I cannot wait until the next race.
Aside from the long ceremonies, the only other upsetting thing was that I did not get nominated for the Best Bod award, what the heck?

Nov 20 2006

Big Game Raceway decided it would be fun to start all of the races in one big row, rather than start in seperate rows like usual. Just to add more incentive to hang it out, they announced a $100 holeshot bonus.
Having never raced the YZ450, I decided to start (dead engine start) in neutral so that the odds of firing on the first kick would be greater. Well, it didn't work, after the third kick, it fired up and I tapped it into first gear. I clicked up into second gear and rode a huge power wheelie for the span of the gear. The overly long start strait was eaten alive by the power of the 450. I rounded the first turn only 20ft back from my friend Mike Oneil who won the holeshot.
The next turn proved too trickey for the rider in front of me. As they fell, I used the awsome control of the YZ450 to stop myself just behind them. Before I could go around, another racer rammed me from the back shooting me into another racer on the right. The turn which was 1 and 1/2 four wheelers in width was now packed with 4 sprawled out bikes. I jumped up and remounted, only to be hit again. By this time, I was way in the back. I didn't turn around to see, but I had to have passed everybody there. Well actually, all but 1 person. During the muddy, confusing, crazy race, my Dad and brother(pit crew) and I had no idea what place I was in. The next to last lap they realized I was in 2nd, but they thought that it was too late and I was too far back to catch first. "He had a big lead on you, we didn't think you could do it." My dad told me after the race. I finished on his back wheel in second place. Sad but fun.

Wow! I rode a YZ450f 2 days ago for the first time and I was very impressed. The power is smooth and always available. The suspension and handling is great. It carves through turns better than my ultra light YZ125. One thing I was worried about was engine braking. My worries were exhiled after riding, as the engine braking is not annoying as with a 250f. I think that there is so much power that the engine braking is seemingly non existant unless I would drop into a lower gear on purpose. Thank you Clarion Cycles.

Apr 25 2006

Hey everyone, I just got back from Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The race track was rocky and covered in a thick layer of tacky mud. I had a good start, and then around the 1/2 mile mark I chanced my way through an overflowing drainage ditch to move into 2nd. I made a slight bobble on a hill and was passed by JT Bennett(who would go on to win). I was stuck on his back fender until I went down hard around the 10 mile mark. After picking my bike up and pushing out of the gulley I discovered, I rode bad and made more mistakes until I calmed down. Once I started having fun again, I went from 9th to 3rd. Even though I wasn't in the front the whole race, I was happy with laps 2-5 and I cannot wait until the Missiouri Showtime GNCC May 7th.
I'll try to get some pictures to post as soon as I can, email me, racercharkie@hotmail.com
